CrossOver 6.2 supports Team Fortress 2
The latest version of CrossOver, Codeweavers' Mac and Linux application designed to get Windows games and applications working on those systems, has been released. CrossOver 6.2, now available, features a number of different updates both to increase compatibility and to make Windows applications run faster than ever.
And first among these updates is the fact that it will now run Team Fortress 2 right out of Valve's new Orange Box, as seen in the video above (caution: awkward narrative and bad acting ahead-- skip to about 2:09 to see the actual product). They're also saying it features improvements when working with Outlook, and, in the strangest feature description ever, they say it really will work much faster-- when you install Leopard.
CrossOver is available as a free trial on their website, and to promote the new release, you can get it for 10% off when you enter "zomg" as a special deal in the shopping cart. Has anyone tried running TF2 in Boot Camp yet? If that doesn't work so well, and you've really got to play Valve's new game, CrossOver might be the way to go.

I've been running TF 2 in Boot Camp since day 1 and it runs perfectly. All the settings cranked and it looks freakin' gorgeous too.

I would agree that it runs beautiful in Bootcamp! But, i'm really excited to try this way. It would be nice to not have to restart my mac, hold down alt, select windows, boot into that, play the game, then all over again to go back to my glorious OSX. Plus, the wife gets kinda pissy when she sees XP running on the mac! She acts like I've been cheating or something!
Going to test this tonight.

Psst... Boot Camp is only a loader that allows you to emulate BIOS, and isn't what actually runs Windows..... It's just an installation assistant.

I think you guys are missing the point of Cross Over. You can run certain Windows programs on your Mac in OSX WITHOUT Windows.
You don't need to give $$ to MS to buy Windows. For me that is a good enough reason to prefer CrossOver Mac over BootCamp, Parallels or VMWare Fusion.
But you should first check out the CrossOver wensite to nake sure that CrossOver Mac will run all those Windows programs that you care about.

I have a mid-2007 black Macbook (that I love) and I tried Crossover, Parallels and BootCamp (WinXP) to play TF2. Parallels was dismal (although TFC plays fine in Parallels). Bootcamp had horrible texture issues although successive releases of the TF2 beta have improved overall stability of TF2 on my Macbook, it continues to be plagued by crappy crappy visuals. I tried the Crossover Mac 6.2 demo yesterday and got the flat out best performance I've seen on my Macbook for TF2 AND for Half-life 2 as well! There are unfortunate problems with text in chat for TF2 and all text on Fortress Forever mod under Crossover, but I'm glad to be rid of my bootcamp partition and I'm plunking down the cash for Crossover. I bought it for linux years ago before I got a Mac and I have to say, these guys are really committed to continuous product improvement.

you idiot. Your macbook has the shitty GMA 950. Very few modern games will run on it because it is an integrated video solution without it's own vram.

Used to use Parallels . . .CrossOver is much slicker, works great, doesn't require a Windows license - that's the best part - and integrates much better into Mac OS-X. Also . . . really well-supported, may not work with every weird app out there but it gets the job done. If you're like me and basically just running MS-Office, it works perfectly and is much easier to use than Parallels

Hmmm..... Probably done something wrong, but tried to install CrossOver to run Microsoft Access, but a) first CrossOver gets somewhat blocked when installing some fonts, and b) after forcing the continuation of the installation, which it does, and installs Access, then Access run once, before craching and doesn't want to restart anymore...

Works quite well, except for the very long load times (and it definitely isn't my computer).
Bootcamp is much better for a Mac Pro though.

Thank god. I used to be obsessed with TFC, and this was my big regret for switching over to a mac recently...not being able to get my fix.
