TUAW and Gametap invite you to test their beta
Gametap, as you may already know, is working hard on a Mac client for their game subscription service, and when they told us they were looking for a few good beta testers, we told them to look no further than you, our beloved TUAW readers. So together with GameTap, we're offering you a chance to not only help them test their beta, but check out their service and their games (from Atari to Zork) for free.UPDATE: Gametap has all the beta testers they need, we've removed the Read link.
The deets, direct from GameTap:
GameTap is searching for people who love to play games - and we want you! No matter whether you prefer action games such as Golden Axe and Street Fighter, adventures games such as Ultima and King's Quest, sports games such as Baseball Stars and Football, or puzzle games like Bust-A-Move and Columns, GameTap has it all and wants you to have it for FREE.
GameTap is constantly adding new features, new game platforms, and of course, more games and the GameTap team needs more Beta testers to help test and evaluate its new offerings. If you're serious about games, willing to provide detailed, top-notch feedback, and are currently using an Intel(R)-CPU Mac, GameTap invites you to join its Beta team (and have a lot of fun in the process).
To apply, visit GameTap's beta site and use the password: Marshall. Please fill out GameTap's Beta application with as much detail as possible.
Please note that not everyone who applies will be accepted and that your answers will be used to determine your qualifications for beta testing. The GameTap staff looks forward to your help testing out the latest and greatest features of GameTap.
Thank you,
GameTap and TUAW

I am a PPC user too, but really, can you blame Apple? I think the blame could more adequately be placed with the developers, since they are the ones not releasing GameTap with a universal binary. Something that Apple has made available to the third-party application developers.
Either way, you still cannot even blame GameTap for looking forward to the future. And I do believe the future for Apple holds Intel at heart.
It does suck, but one just needs to come to grips and be realistic.

Umm, I don't see why I shouldn't blame Apple. They made the transition to Intel without much warning at all for those brand new G5 owners. Man, I'd REALLY hate to be one of those guys (my G5 is Rev A, not quite as pissed). They've put 0 pressure on developers to continue PPC support. It may be easier for developers to develop for Intel, great, thanks for making the effort to remind developers that a shitload of people still have really nice PPCs. Oh wait, they haven't tried at all, because it's not in their best interest. Apple has essentially done what they've done a million times in the past; dropping support for their "legacy" hardware. Next up is dropping PPC support from OS X. I've been through this in the past (read: Powerbook G3). It's actually a genius plan by Apple to force users to buy new hardware when their old hardware is perfectly fine.
Come to grips, be realistic. Apple does this all the time. I am being realistic. They've been sued before and should be again.

Damn, you're right... CURSE YOU APPLE, why can't I run OS X on my IIe???? Noooooooo!
As far as the password, if you can't read a whole blog post, perhaps you're not the types of people Gametap is looking for to beta test?

perhaps it's in the paragraph that actually stands on its own with the link to the application and says:
To apply, visit GameTap's beta site and use the password: [readthedamnpost]. Please fill out GameTap's Beta application with as much detail as possible.

rp, I was going to rant a bit on how ridiculous your reasoning is, but I'm watching the Simpson's, and frankly, it isn't worth my time. But while you're putting that lawsuit together, could you get some damages for Netflix not offering their Watch it Now features for my Mac? Anyway, I'd keep up the conversation bu me and my MBP have to finish up the beta registration.
