I will admit that I don't really get why anyone would want a stand alone speaker system for their iPod or iPhone, but I know some folks do. I could see how this would be nice to have for the garage, while working on the car. Or poolside. Or someplace where I want music, but don't want a computer.

Of course, I still ain't gonna buy one.

I know lots of dancers who need to regularly lug around a "boom box" (for CD's or iPods) since many studios, schools and performance venues don't always have sound systems available to use.
