Apple confirms Oct 26 release for Leopard

Well, it's official. After going down this morning Apple Store is back up and sporting the banner you see above. Leopard will be released on October 26th, with pre-orders already being taken. The price is in line with the last few OS X releases: $129 for single user, $199 for the five-user family pack.
It's going to be a long 10 days!

So what happens to all my Tiger apps that I love when/if I upgrade?
October 16 2007 at 5:16 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAnyone have any idea whether my coworkers and I could split a five-pack? I'm not as curious about the legality of it as much as whether it would be physically possible to do the installs. (I.e. is there some barrier in the OS that would intrinsically prevent non-family members to install the family pack or monitor them post-install?)

(One of the main things it means is that I won't be ugrading anytime soon.)
What a bummer that the EDU discount only brings it down to $116. I seem to remember getting Tiger for $80. Oh well, now that my parents have made the switch I'll be getting a Family Pack anyway, which sadly has no EDU discount.

Leopard is priced 129$ in both countries, all Macs are still much more expensive in Canada.
October 16 2007 at 11:12 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWell that stinks that they are only going back 15 days (basically return policy), because I ordered my 24" iMac like 30 days ago, hoping they would go 30 days. Oh well. I need multiple copies anyways for my year old MBP and my wife's older iMac, so I was going to get a family pack anyways.

October 16 2007 at 10:52 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAnyone who bought a new mac after 10/1/07 will get Leopard for $9.95USD. Details here:

Also, I thought it was nice that the apple phone rep told me I was "Eligible to buy it at full price." I thought that was classy.
