Apple confirms Oct 26 release for Leopard

Well, it's official. After going down this morning Apple Store is back up and sporting the banner you see above. Leopard will be released on October 26th, with pre-orders already being taken. The price is in line with the last few OS X releases: $129 for single user, $199 for the five-user family pack.
It's going to be a long 10 days!

Education Pricing is $116 now vs. $69 for Tiger and Panther, etc. Price bump for Ed users.

Just ordered it now in Switzerland. Makes a nice 30th birthday present (october 24th). Was looking forward to this moment :-) I just hope it gets sent prior to that or that I get it a couple of days later than that and not like two weeks...
I have been looking forward to it since January :-)

UK prices £85 (single) and £129 (family pack).
that's equivalent (according to xe.com) to a US price tag of $173.21 & $262.87
Thinking a trip over to the states would be worth the savings!

do you think they will be launching any new laptops with Leopard, or sticking with the current lineup?

Wow, giving it to us over the weekend to play with. They must be more confident about the release than I thought.

*sigh* To pre-order or not to pre-order. I have one of the original 20" iMacs with a single Core Duo processor (not Core 2 Duo mind you). Maxed out RAM and HD. Is that enough for Leopard? Is there a page with this info on it officially?

The $38 increase in the edu pricing makes me sad, but I'm not really surprised since the educational discounts have been going down the drain for a while, albeit slowly.

Question: I am a long time mac user, but this is the first time that i have ever upgraded a machine during an os launch. I need to upgrade my powerbook g4 to one of the new intel machines (for about 100 reasons lol). if i walk into store on the 26th, and buy a new laptop, what will happen? will the laptop have 10.4 and they give me a 10.5 disc? will the laptop have 10.5 on it already? or will the laptop have 10.4 and i have to buy 10.5? any help from previous buyers would really be helpful
