Periscope 1.5

The good folks at Freeverse dropped us a line informing of an update to their webcam app, Periscope. We first looked at this app awhile ago, and the UI has been completely overhauled (for the better in my opinion). If you aren't familiar with this app it is a simple idea: harness the power of your Mac's webcam (either an iSight or an external cam) to do more than just Photobooth.
Periscope lets you set your Mac to take a picture when it hears a noise, when it detects motion in user-defined zones, at a specific time, or when you push a button. The resultant pictures can be automatically uploaded to Flickr or .Mac, they can be saved into a movie to make a simple time lapse, emailed, or FTPed to a location of your choice. But wait, there's more! The images can also be timestamped, overlayed, or have text labels applied to them automatically.
What would you expect to pay for such a powerful application? If you said $39.95 you'd be right (and get out of my head!). There is a fully functional demo that lets you use Periscope for 50 hours, so you really don't have a reason not to try this sweet little app out, now do you?

Re: Crashing in 1.5.1 at launch
We discovered a bug in the .Mac support that was causing some users to crash on launch. 1.5.2 was released today to address the situation. :)
If ANYONE experiences problems, crashing or otherwise, please let our support team know! You guys buy our software, so we want to make sure we take care of problems you encounter.
Version 1.5 was a big release for Periscope, and we want to make sure we get any remaining issues shaken out as we become aware of them.

I dont mean any disrespect to the guy, but damn, if your gonna feature a product you *like* then try to have the appropriate expression on your face.
If that were my product, I'd rather he just show the icon or interface.
I wonder if you could make this work with more than one camera attached. It could be a pretty cool budget home security system if you could have cameras in multiple places that would snap pictures when they sensed motion. Of course, I've recently had my lawnmower stolen out of my shed and I've been thinking about this kind of thing more than I used to.

Another better, cheaper ($30), and apparently more stable app with similar functionality, is Iris from MildMannered Industries

Jesus, people, get over yourselves. There's nothing more annoying than someone who's always telling people to "SMILE!" What do you want him to do? Strike a pose?
Anyway, Scott, you look fantastic. Keep up the good work.
Looks like a really cool application. I downloaded it to try it out and it repeatedly crashes on startup. When I went to their support forum, it looks like this is a known problem on version 1.5.1
Looks really cool...love to try it out, just doesn't seem ready for primetime, especially at $39.
Yikes, down periscope! down periscope!

Do the app makers a favor, and try to smile when plugging their product...
Scott,
Congrats on the weight loss, but you sure don't look happy about eating "right"! I'm with you, buddy. I'm down 25 lbs on my South Beach experiment. I sure miss pizza, and cheeseburgers ,and grilled cheese, and Oreos, and fast food, and potato chips, and butter, and...
