RapidWeaver 3.6.4 is available

RapidWeaver by Realmac Sofware is a WYSIWYG web editor that we like. If you're unfamiliar, it's a super-simple editor that features iLife and .Mac integration, flash photo galleries, an SDK and so on. Version 3.6.4 offers Leopard compatibility.

Realmac also announced today that Rapidweaver 4.0 is under development. It will be exclusive to Mac OS 10.5 and a free upgrade for registered users. Cool! In fact, you can get a sneak peek of of RapidWeaver 4.0 at London's MacLive Expo at the end of this week.

RapidWeaver: more stable, more plugins, nicer themes
Sandvox: more intuitive, better sidebars ("pagelets")

I really liked Sandvox for awhile but I switched to RapidWeaver recently, I guess for the stability and the nicer themes. Sandvox has a great deal of promise, though. The developers seem quite active, too. I think it will improve.

Thats cool. The more Leopard exclusives the better. Developers shouldn't be afraid to take advantages of the new system. I think the majority of serious mac users upgrade, and these are the main purchasers of shareware.

RW 3.6.4 not available on the site or via the program's update check -- just 3.6.3.

I think Rapidweaver has promise but don't like the workflow. I wish all the little plug-ins (by Yourhead Software) blocks, columns, accordian was built-in. I would like the ability to customize the code but still have the drag and drop and live view ease of iWeb. RW forces you to hit this preview mode and you don't really see what the page/themes looks like right away without that... Kind of more from a coders POV than a designer's if you ask me. I do like the fact that you can easily tinker with the code though. Wish iWeb was a bit more flexible in this regard guess that's why I still use Dreamweaver albeit a bit more expensive and bloated these days since Adobe took it over.
