In other news, reader Don also had a problem with his Leopard delivery-- when checking his tracking number with FedEx online, he noticed to his dismay that someone named "Ramirez" had already signed for his package (and he doesn't know anyone named Ramirez). He called Apple and they blamed FedEx, saying that FedEx was reusing tracking numbers, and the signature Don was seeing was for a different package.
And even if you have your copy, you may still be having problems-- Paul got his copy in Australia last night, but says Software Update has been zerged to death. With so many people trying to sign on and get their new apps, it may be a rough road for installers this weekend. Good luck out there.
Update: We've also heard about a delay out of Indy. If you were expecting Leopard in the US by 10:30am, odds are you don't have it yet.

FedEx had my copy on my doorstep in Memphis, TN at 8:30 this morning. Of course, living in the same city as FedEx's world headquarters might have helped.

I ordered on October 24 and said "Delivery by October 26." Got an email saying item shipped but will arrive on October 29th! And Apple didn't use FedEx, instead they are shipping it to me UPS GROUND! No way.

1:30pm -- still waiting for mine. FedEx Tracking says "Delivery exception - Future Delivery Requested." I called the automated system and it said delivery should be by 3:30pm. (Western Maryland)

Received mine at about 9am. The FedEx guy tried to leave a note on the door and I had to chase him down the street.
He did ask "what the hell is in this little box", he has over a hundred to deliver this morning. :)

I get the same thing, and Fedex says it was customer requested. Right. Let me get this straight Fedex, I order something priority overnight and then I defer delivery???? Fedex accepts these items for overnight shipment with delivery guaranteed by 10:30 AM local time. But won't deliver. Apple should get all over them for violation of the service agreement.

In tracking my Leopard package on Fedex website, I saw at 10:35 am that there was an entry that said "Delivery Exception" entered at 10:13 a.m.
I called Fedex to see what the problem was and the agent said: "Apple just dumped a whole lot of packages on us... we will be delivering the package some time today."
As if Fedex didn't know way ahead of time that Apple would be sending gazillions of Leopard packages today? Come on. That's no excuse. Fedex should have been prepared.

I too got the Delivery Exception, but my brother told me recently that he saw a could not deliver slip on the door from FedEx. We have our signature on record, and FedEx didn't ring the doorbell. :(

I just got back from the opening in London's Regent St... got my copy and t-shirt, but any ideas you had about Mac users being a kinder, gentler sort can be thrown out the door in the UK - queue jumping galore and when the doors opened, a mad rush from all sides with some major squashing going on. I got my copy a got home!

I am getting something different, and it has happened twice. It is a Dilivery Exception, once at 7:52 AM and again at 11:25 AM. It says "Package at station, arrived after courier dispatch" I assume that means the plane landed after all the trucks were sent out for the morning. Somebody better get their truck back to FedEx right NOW, or there will be hell to pay. *Clenches Fist* Oh, I am in Wichita, KS.
