TUAW readers are no-doubt aware of EyeTV, the app from Elgato Systems that enables you to record TV via your Mac (with a compatible tuner). Last month's EyeTV 2.5 upgrade was a neat boost that allowed folks to use their recorded content on the newest handheld devices, but today's 2.5.1 update now make EyeTV fully compatible with Leopard. So what's added? In short: Leopard features galore. Spaces support (so that TV shows can follow you, whichever Space you swap to), QuickLook for your recordings, and the ability to browse the EyeTV Archive folder bundle with CoverFlow. Perhaps the crowning feature, however, is the integration of iChat Theater playback for your video files, along with playback controls and the ability to add your own commentary over the playback. Become your own broadcast hub!
The EyeTV update is a free download for registered customers from the Elgato website. The 50 MB patch can also be downloaded and installed from within the EyeTV application.

Hmm.. never considered getting elgato but looking at JUST these update features, it seems pretty cool.
Any people familiar with elgato mind giving their advcice?
How much does everything run(software, tuner, other stuff)? Is it easy to record stuff off of FIOS (TV, DVR)? What about if I want to start bringing stuff of my old videotapes in the house so I can toss them and get some storage space back?

EyeTV is amazing. I've been recording stuff from cable and it automatically optimizes it for my iPhone and syncs it when i connect my phone. The integration with iTunes is superb - I can choose to only sync unwatched videos, thus saving space on my iPhone. Remote scheduling is easier than my Tivo and I'm using EyeTV more than I use both my Tivo and Comcast DVR. And yes, it allows you to convert analog to digital (the EyeTV200 - not sure about the Hybrid)

I have it running on an old mini ppc and it runs very well with a Hauppage DVB digital usb tuner. I would recommend it and with the update it gets better.

Unfortunately this (2.5.1) & the last (2.5) Eye TV update doesn't work with the Eye TV Diversity... Just upgraded to Leopard and had to fall back on 2.4 to get any TV channels! Eye TV are aware of the problem... still waiting.

My one remaining problem with EyeTV 2.5.1 is that I record "Frontline" from PBS, and there's a "convert to DVD with Toast" option. (Toast 8.0.1). You click the icon, the show turns up in Toast, then put in a DVD and burn. It encodes, then multiplexes into the DVD format. But something is now interrupting. It seems to encode fine, but then fails before it burns one bit onto the DVD. Anybody have a clue about where to start? I've left a note with elgato.
