1.1.2 iPod touch Jailbroken--before its official release!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. And here is the first picture from a jailbroken 1.1.2 iPod touch, courtesy of hacker planetbeing. Congratulations to all the iPhone/iPod team, including Pumpkin, Edgan, Dinopio, Drudge, Kroo, and all the rest. Details will be forthcoming as the method gets debugged and safety-features put in-place.

By the way Erica, the Voice Note app of yours is superb! but gives me some strange issue , the sound of the ringtone and lock & unlock sounds lil bit odd! like "deep tone" instead of 'crisp' as it is normal.
And one more thing... .I am sure, the iPhone 1.1.2 Jailbreak + Unlock will appear soon on the horizon !

Wow.
I have a feeling they had another way of jailbreaking ready that wasn't patched so they could come out ready and fighting for 1.1.2 firmware?

Wow!
This made me laugh - really hard
Same techniques for the iPhone I would imagine - and not using a symlink I would love to know how its done
Nice work once again
I will wait still as 111 vs 112 is not really a big difference :)

Sweet Raptor Jesus, this is almost like the PSP. The tit for tat on that was annoying, hopefully this will not be as bad for the user. Besides, is there a reason to upgrade the Touch? All the fixes were already in the homebrew appz, there isn't any point upgrading till all the homebrew is only 1.1.2 compatible. GOOD WORK HOMEBREW SCENE!

Maybe I'm blind, but I don't see what it is about this screenshot that shows it's jailbroken.

9: Because in order to get the screen shot, they would have to have run the screen shot program. (unless someone managed to figure out the screenshot USB protocol)

Here's to betting this is a symlink jailbreak, and as such requires a symlink to / put in place BEFORE updating...

@mcdj It shows it's jailbroken because it's a screenshot rather then an image taken by a camera. To produce a screenshot on an iPhone, you need to execute code.
My guess is this jailbreak is the exact same as 1.1.1. It's most likely just a symlink, as I honestly doubt that iTunes can remove a symlink, or even detect it if the Media folders are there.
If it was the symlink exploit, it was most likely done in an iTunes version prior to 1.1.2.

Sweet, very sweet. But I also wonder the value of showing Apple how this was exploited for an update as (apparently) feature-weak as this one is. Saving it for 1.1.3 might have been better?

Well I don't see the worry. Once Apple releases the SDK, then we shouldn't need to jailbreak, right? (Then again, I don't think they'd just release Mail and Maps for the iTouch, so maybe I'd want a jailbreak anyway...)

So by upgrading from jbroken 1.1.1 to 1.1.2, do we lose all our files and hacks and have to re-jailbreak and then reinstall stuff?
