Save on iPods or Mac gear: 20% cash back from PayPal for some sites
Happy Cyber Monday! Lots of online retailers are offering up discounts today and tomorrow, but if you use PayPal, you have the opportunity to save even more. At select merchants (see the entire list and details here), you can get 20% cash back if you pay with PayPal (the ceiling is at $50 for cash back per PayPal account, so maximum purchase price of $250 for the full discount), starting today. Some merchants are running the sale longer than others, so check the individual sites for details. What does this have to do with Apple and Mac users? Well, although the Apple Store is not a selected merchant (it doesn't take PayPal, but it is offering free shipping today), lots of stores that sell Mac products or accessories are on the list. NewEgg.com carries Macs, iPods, software, RAM and accessories; 20% off on a $200 iPod Nano, with free shipping and a free holster, is an unbeatable discount. eBags.com has a great selection of laptop bags (the 20% PayPal cash back is enough for me to bite the bullet and order the Tumi messenger I've been eying for ages). BarnesandNoble.com has lots of great books about Apple and Apple products and Overstock.com often has great deals on older Apple products and on iPod accessories.
If you use PayPal and have been waiting for some deals for gifts for yourself or others, right now might just be the time to start shopping.

Looks like Tumi T-Tech is not part of the Cyber Monday 20% discount.

The Tumi bag isn't part of eBag's 20% off standard promotion, but it DOES qualify for the PayPal cash back discount. Since Tumi never qualifies for the usual site deals, this was the best deal I've been able to find.

app4mac.com is also offering a 20% discount today for all products! Customers have just to use the coupon code CYBERMONDAY at the online store.

Hey I use PayPal as the method of paying at the itunes store. I just recently made my account but it allowed me to choose paypal as the method with a big checkbox right next to the paypal logo. Best regards. NanoForg

Has anyone actually ordered something today from New Egg? Do you see any notification of the promotion with your shopping cart, or any other evidence that one might produce if the thing gets screwed up? Or is Paypal just going to keep track of this without any acknowledgement until the (deferred) discount is given?

I'm trying to buy an external hard drive from NewEgg and I keep getting an error saying they can't process my payment right now.

I am getting the same check out error as BulkHedd when I try to buy something through New Egg using PayPal - its just not taking orders at all.
Just purchased a camera at Ritz.com and there's no indication that I will receive 20% back. Reading through the terms and conditions it says that the 20% will be deposited into my PayPal account on Jan 31,2008. I am a little nervous about this because I did click on the PayPal icon when checking out from Ritz that indicated 20% off but nowhere on the receipt does it say that it was applied or that I will receive it in Jan 2008.

FYI, the free holster deal with the 8GB nano only applies if you buy the Combo which packages the iPod with a wall charger. The price remains $194.98, but shipping is no longer free, and costs atleast $4.99 for UPS 3 Day Ground. Not a huge deal, but worth noting nonetheless.

I was ready to pick up an iPod Classic from NewEgg and, as of 7:30pm EST, they have posted a "Sale Ended" sign. Bahhhhhhhhhhh!

I just grabbed an iPod Touch from Overstock.com. Is that a reliable website? I called Paypal to make sure I qualify, and they said it's all green, but I'm worried about the condition of the Touch since they labeled it as "refurbished."

I've had nothing but great luck at Overstock.com -- and I've ordered refurbished stuff before (my mom got a refurbished 17" flatscreen CRT Dell Monitor a few years back that still works (they have laptops now but it's great in a pinch), I think it's all actually manufacturer reburbished, so it would be the equivalent of getting one from the Apple's store web site. They ship super fast too.

Thank you, Christina, for quelling my fears. =) Thank God. I think $50 off an iPod Touch is an awesome steal. I just wish I was home yesterday afternoon so I could have taken advantage of Newegg's prices. $244 for an 8GB iPod Touch!
mark, I talked to a NewEgg rep, they said Paypal gave each participating store a quota. Once that quota is taken up (that's the "supplies last" or something part in the terms & conditions), Paypal will no longer give rebates for that store. Paypal apparently set the quota based on popularity, and for some reason NewEgg was not given a huge number like Toys R' Us. Maybe because they are not popular offline? lol
