Connect360 now does DivX/Xvid
We've posted on Connect360 from nullriver several times before. This handy Preference Pane application allows you to stream media (music, pictures, and video) from your Mac to your Xbox 360 (by emulating a Windows machine). Well the Fall 2007 Dashboard update for Xbox 360 just dropped this week and, among other things, added DivX and Xvid codec support. So nullriver has updated Connect360 to version 3.2 with support for these video codecs.Connect360 remains $20 and a demo is available.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

hey mat,
i know this thread is old but maybe you can still help me!!!
i have no trouble running many a avi files on my 360 and love it...with connect360 i have integrated photo, movie, and music. i am however, having difficulties with dvd album cover art. i was looking under the latest video/audio format guidlines and it said i could use album art for my movies, they recommend no larger than 512k i believe. i am having issues getting this to work. any ideas on how-to get this taken care of. just wanna enhance my 360/mac relationship, gotta keep the fire burning

aliases have never worked unfortunately :(
you could switch the entire directory it uses to share movies from though

Does anyone know if there is a Connect360 like product for the PS3?

Nullriver announched that they are working on a "ConnectPS3," but there hasn't been much news about it yet.

EyeConnect.
Tt works between my Mac and PS3, since it supports DLNA, but it will cost you $50.
I used to have a Xbox 360 w/Connect360 anyway.

As someone else mentioned, EyeConnect by ElGato is basically the same thing for the PS3 (for those who don't like to support Microsoft funneling Windows and Office monopoly funds to subsidize taking over another industry). However, ElGato doesn't seem to be as on the ball. The "Trial Version" download link is broken on their site, and the software doesn't get revved as often as some would like.

Maybe it is because I am running Leopard, but it won't stop crashing! My 360 gets discovered almost immediately–but the second I try to play a song, Connect360 crashes. I've disabled my firewall, turned on iTunes sharing, restarted both 360 & computer, reinstalled Connect360, disabled Back to My Mac, and disabled File-Sharing at no avail. Not too impressed.
Anyone having the same issue? Argh?

Hey Jon,
Just an fyi. I am also running leopard and I have the same results. Music crashes all the time but I am able to get video up and running if i let everything sit around for a couple of minutes. I tried the support page but nothing is there. Hopefully they can fix this soon!

Well, still on Tiger and have the same problem, glad to know I'm not the only one !
Music crashes as soon as I try to play while video works fine. Only since I updated to 3.2. I'm thinking of rolling back while waiting for a fix.
Anyone could find a solution ?

I'm not sure about a fix for 3.2 (I haven't updated yet), but 3.1 will stream your DivX and Xvid files, all you need to do is change the extension to wmv.

Just adding my +1 to the issues Jon and Boris mentioned. When I try to play a song, connect360 crashes. I tried to connect the nullriver support but the link on the support page is dead too.

I took an educated guess that their support email address was support@nullriver.com, and I was correct (I got an auto generated "Dear customer," response back from them immediately). I sent them an email pointing to this thread. Feel free to email them yourselves if you are having an issue with the latest release.
I really want this software to work! It looks like it will be a very functional add-on to my living room :)

fyi, for those of us who dont want to upgrade to 3.2, if you rename the file extension to .wmv the file shows up on the 360 and plays correctly.

Same issue here streaming mp3 on leopard and connect360 3.2.
Video (xvid/divx) seems slower to start than streaming wmv/h264 on connect360 3.1 but at least is working.
I'm sure a new update will arrive shortly :)

Dylan, the download on the apple website is still showing version 3.1, you might want to give it a try

Ugh. It crashes when I try to play music. Everything else seems to work. I'm on Tiger.
Does the preference pane for this program get cut off on the right side for anyone else?
I don't really want to downgrade because the previous version would stop working randomly and not find any files on my Mac for no apparent reason. I could connect to my Mac, see my files, but they would be broken links. I almost wish I didn't buy it.
These guys really need a support forum, so we can help each other troubleshoot.
