Panic releases Transmit 3.6.3
Earlier this week, Panic released Transmit 3.6.3. If you're unfamiliar, Transmit is the FTP application that's loved by many (including us). Version 3.6.3 offers improved Leopard and Amazon S3 compatibility, French and German localization and several bug fixes. If you haven't tried it out, take this opportunity. It's a great application. This update is free for registered users of version 3.x. Transmit requires Mac OS 10.3.9, and a single license will cost you $29.95.

Panic would make me, as an already paying customer, really happy if they would update it to use the Sparkle framework.

I second that. It is such a pain to have to open the disk image, copy the file, eject the disk and trash it, when it could just all happen automatically.
They don't update the app that often but it would be nice though.

There are still Amazon S3 issues. Hopefully Panic will address these, and soon, as I'd like to use Transmit for my S3 backups.

I agree! Unfortunately Transmit can not access european buckets, so i have to use the bucket explorer. For everything else i use Transmit, its awesome.

Not only is Transmit awesome, but it seems like Panic is constantly turning out more refined versions of their products. Exactly what an app developer should be.

I still don't get why people would pay for an FTP client when many open source, or just otherwise FREE clients exist.. Note Cyberduck.. even the Finder.!!
Not to mention that most web-dev suites come with an FTP client (dreamweaver and coda, to name the ones I use).

I used to agree with you. I have used a free client (Cyberduck) for months until I just stopped and I realized. Transmit is a native app, it does launch faster no matter what (Cocoa+Java still launches a java VM). On the whole it's a professional product at an affordable price.
Same goes for text editors.. I though Smultron was pretty fine (1.0 series) before I actually tried to used Textmate for a while.
I did donate for Cyberduck but still preferred to pay 29$ for a good FTP client I use every day.

@jordan they pay for it because it's just THAT good. Imo, cyberduck doesnt hold a candle to Transmit's power, speed, features, and reliability. Plus, it's a pain starting up dreamweaver everytime i want to ftp a file. Transmit is just all around amazing for all ftp related things, so it's one of those apps that really is worth the money.

I'm a big fan of Yummy FTP because I can schedule synchronization of folders on my Mac to my Web host. It basically allows me to use it as a way to schedule back-ups of files on my Mac to my Web host.
As far as I know, Transmit doesn't do that. It will sync folders, but not on a schedule, so I don't have to think about it.
If it does, I'd switch to Transmit. I like Panic's software design.
Oh, and Cyberduck isn't even in the same league as Yummy or Transmit. It's a decent free option.
