Beta Beat: SimplePrint
Mac Developer Chad Barraford dropped me a note to let me know about his recently released program -- SimplePrint. SimplePrint is a suite of 3 apps that make the painful art of network printing a breeze. Use the Admin tool to set up your printer(s), then you can easily set the default printer, stop and restart print jobs, and view every print queue on your computer -- all with one click. Also included in the suite is the SimplePrint Traffic manager, which will allow you to view all of the printing traffic, move jobs to another print queue, and change priorities of the jobs.
The best thing about SimplePrint ... it's free; at least while in beta. Donations are accepted, however.

sounds interesting, especially with that OKI laser colour printer they chose as their icon

A lot of laser printers have that look. HP laserjet series look like also.

This is kind of unrelated but has anyone had any luck with getting a Canon printer hooked to a wireless printer bridge to work in Mac OS?

Hey, TUAW, can you please get rid of the lame faux-Time Machine background? It's huge, sad, and ugly as sin, and really slows down the loading of the site whether I'm at home on DSL or at work at Harvard on what seems to be God's own fast pipe.
It's 141k and I can watch the damn thing paint down the window on my 2.4 GHz MacBook Pro, before anything else loads on the page.
And what's the point, anyway, of having a 141k picture most of which is always covered?

oh, add me to the list on both counts:
1) printing with my mac works great now. Why would I need this?
2) that background is BIG, SLOW and UGLY.

this doesn't allow you to view all the network printers shared print jobs on your client machine. Only the server.

I used Bonjour for Windows + Mac to network all of my printers and it works fantastically. Don't see why I need another utility. . . :)

Except bonjour sucks when you run it on a networked environment with Leopard and Windows, and a Windows Server.
Bonjour gets in the way of authentication with a windows server when used on leopard machines in a hybrid environment.
So maybe you dont need it on your case, which to the point of the discussion, we are glad it works, but just because the solution doesnt apply to you, it shouldn't have less importance.
This solution could solve my nightmares at work...

This utility is for large scale networks like colleges a large corporations. In an enterprise environment, adding a printer can be confusing for many users, especially non-technical users. They add them incorrectly or something of the such and need IT to help them. This utility makes it extremely easy, among other things.
