If you listen to our talkcast, you'll already know that Apple makes their product release decisions based around my own personal experience -- every time I buy an Apple product, Steve stands up and releases something even newer and cooler soon after. Of course, as the parody says, if you want to own something that doesn't ever get better after you buy it, there is always an alternative.

That was awesome!!!
If a new product was announced, say a month ago, my dad will wait and say that theres a new one soon, because of all the rumor sites. We waited about 9 months for the new iMac...

There will be always be a new one in the works. At least with a Mac you are getting a more future-proof device that will have the latest H/W and an OS that will speed up over time.
(disclaimer: this does not include gamers who by a notebook or all-in-one device as the GVC will be severely lacking within a year for any new games)

It's quite a good copy of the Feist video, but I don't see that Apple should be moaned at for constantly improving things. Sure, it's annoying if something's updated as soon as you buy it, but with a bit of research you can largely avoid that (thankyou Mac Rumors for your buyer's guide!).
Also, isn't this the nature of pretty much every piece of technology we have? Things get faster, smaller, brighter, quieter, better looking all the time. I'm glad that Apple keep making cool things! :-)

Quite funny.
Agree with above though. If Apple didn't keep release new stuff, someone else would take their market share.
I think Jobs said it at a keynote: Apple has to keep competing against themselves to remain on top.

It's hilarious, and true, but as Steve said when he iPoned all of us early iPhone adopters, that's just technology.
Tongue planted firmly in cheek writing the above.
I have the original Feist video, but for some reason I read the article initially as Feiss, as in Ellen Feiss, the infamous my-pc-devoured-my-paper girl who people thought was high on drugs during the Switch ad for Macs. Funny memories either way.

MADtv sucks. This parody is half-assed at best, just like all their other skits.

Ugh. It's true, apple doesn't go shouting about before they update a product (look at today's surprise server and mac pro updates) but people just need to use common sense. If it's been a while since a product has been updated, just wait! I guarantee you will be satisfied with your new piece of the apple pie.

The only downside to that method is when Macs are usually updated every 6-9 months but the Mac Pro went almost a year and a half between updates. :-) I've been waiting for them to be revved since summer; I recently bought a used one instead. (Got a great price, thankfully.)

Can you believe it. I bought a car and sure enough if they didn't come out with a new model to replace the one I just bought.
Darn car manufacturers.
(some people will whine about any thing)

yeah, this is such an old lame complaint. i felt the same way when apple released the cheaper iphone: no one _made_ you go out and buy one, so don't bitch when something new comes out. i have a 400 mhz powermac, that until recently, has worked as well as the day i bought it. it only seems slow when i use it after my mbp 2.2.

First madtv is funnier than SNL has been in recent years. But you just have to know when you buy an apple product, got to get it in the sweet spot of the development cycle or be rich.

What saves it is that they acknowledge that PC's suck and do a pretty good zune rip-off at the end.

Funny sketch and very balanced.
Although they complain about the iPod changing, they REALLY skewer pc's at the end. "We always suck" is pretty much a pro-Apple stance, I'd say.
This thing is a GREAT Apple ad!

Very funny but it makes me weep with self-pity at the same time.
I saved up to buy an 80 Gb iPod on an upcoming business trip to the US, in order to take full advantage of 2 for 1 exchange rate. And what an effort it was to actually purchase the damn thing as Fry's were unable to accept my Halifax VIsa credit card and after several attempts, I ended up having to withdraw a huge wad of cash (plus fee) to hand over to Fry's. The week after I got back they released the new version in the ipod where the new 80Gb was £25 less in the UK than I paid for old version in the US. Ho hum.
