Found Footage: They iScrewed me again
If you listen to our talkcast, you'll already know that Apple makes their product release decisions based around my own personal experience -- every time I buy an Apple product, Steve stands up and releases something even newer and cooler soon after. Of course, as the parody says, if you want to own something that doesn't ever get better after you buy it, there is always an alternative.

I can't say MADtv is my favorite sketch show, and personally I really liked the Feist iPod ads, but in terms of skewering the downsides of...

Very funny but it makes me weep with self-pity at the same time.
I saved up to buy an 80 Gb iPod on an upcoming business trip to the US, in order to take full advantage of 2 for 1 exchange rate. And what an effort it was to actually purchase the damn thing as Fry's were unable to accept my Halifax VIsa credit card and after several attempts, I ended up having to withdraw a huge wad of cash (plus fee) to hand over to Fry's. The week after I got back they released the new version in the ipod where the new 80Gb was £25 less in the UK than I paid for old version in the US. Ho hum.
Fair and balanced comedy from the red channel

Although they complain about the iPod changing, they REALLY skewer pc's at the end. "We always suck" is pretty much a pro-Apple stance, I'd say.
This thing is a GREAT Apple ad!
What saves it is that they acknowledge that PC's suck and do a pretty good zune rip-off at the end.

January 08 2008 at 6:47 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyFirst madtv is funnier than SNL has been in recent years. But you just have to know when you buy an apple product, got to get it in the sweet spot of the development cycle or be rich.
January 08 2008 at 5:23 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyyeah, this is such an old lame complaint. i felt the same way when apple released the cheaper iphone: no one _made_ you go out and buy one, so don't bitch when something new comes out. i have a 400 mhz powermac, that until recently, has worked as well as the day i bought it. it only seems slow when i use it after my mbp 2.2.
January 08 2008 at 5:10 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyCan you believe it. I bought a car and sure enough if they didn't come out with a new model to replace the one I just bought.
Darn car manufacturers.
(some people will whine about any thing)
Ugh. It's true, apple doesn't go shouting about before they update a product (look at today's surprise server and mac pro updates) but people just need to use common sense. If it's been a while since a product has been updated, just wait! I guarantee you will be satisfied with your new piece of the apple pie.
January 08 2008 at 4:43 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThe only downside to that method is when Macs are usually updated every 6-9 months but the Mac Pro went almost a year and a half between updates. :-) I've been waiting for them to be revved since summer; I recently bought a used one instead. (Got a great price, thankfully.)
