Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 available for pre-order
Adobe announced this week that Photoshop Elements 6 for the Mac is available for pre-order. Do you prefer to try before you buy? If you're going to be at next week's Macworld Expo, visit the Adobe booth. They'll have a demo version running for you to play with.I'm a fan of PS Elements. I'm no artist or photographer, so Elements does everything I need (and it's a heck of a lot cheaper that Photoshop).
Elements 6 will require Mac OS 10.4.8 or higher, and is priced at US$89.99

Finally. I didn't realize they were making a version for the Mac. Does this mean that I can finally, finally give up iPhoto?

Can't determine if it's a Universal app or not. System requirements say Intel Mac but not whether it's Universal or not.

I seem to recall reading that Adobe wasn't going to waste time on making their new apps Universal since the majority of their cliental would have upgraded to Intel Macs by now.

I also can't find out if it is universal binary or not; looked on Adobe's website and no mention.
I won't upgrade until I know for sure. Why doesn't Adobe say it is if in truth it is? One would think that would be a selling point.

I can't wait! I use PE4 everyday, even more so than PS CS3. It opens up faster, is easier to get in and out and be done, IMO.

The thing that prevents me from using this and most other Adobe apps, is the fact it does NOT work on case-sensitive filesystems, and Adobe does not really seem to care.
You can patch it up with link after link, but it still never works right....

Why not use the GIMP?

Because the GIMP has the ugliest, most convoluted UI I've ever seen. It's great if there's nothing else and you really have to get something done or don't have the ability to buy something like Elements (or Pixelmator), but otherwise, I'll stick with something more intuitive.

Are they gonna give us a demo version we can try out? I was gonna try the old version, but the only demo available was for PC.

unless it says "Universal Binary" or has the UB icon, there is no way to tell if it is.
Saying "* PowerPC® G4 or G5 or multicore Intel® processor" doesn't answer the question.

It is a UB release.

Photoshop Elements 6 or Pixelmator?
No-brainer: Pixelmator. At only $59, it blows the proverbial pants off of Photoshop Elements.
