New Get a Mac ad: Time Machine

Apple is airing a new Get a Mac ad today (thanks to everyone who sent this in) all about Time Machine. The ad, as you might be able to guess from the shot above, features a number of Macs who quickly explain what Time Machine is to a slightly confused PC.
I've gone on record saying that Apple should tout specific features in their ads for Macs, and this ad is a very good start.

I use mac, linux and windows xp had vista too but i upgrated it to xp.
I have a problems in all os that i use, i think xp is the best one because it work will all the rare devices that i have.
Time machine is a tricky one feature, is just a cvs with a fancy windows, that every mac fanboy love.
Is just like all leopard review they all talk about the utilities, no one talk about the os. FileSystem naa just the change to the dock
I administer Windows machines for a living, and trust me when I say that Windows Server and even Vista have no capable backup built in. That's why BackupExec and ArcServe exist.
As for VSC - no regular user ever uses it, and it doesn't work as smoothly as time machine, not by a long shot. Oh, and by the way, VSC for Vista doesn't exist on anything but Business or Ultimate (I know NO ONE running either or those versions legally)
it's not working on my comp :( firefox or safari

Mac
"Hi, I'm a Mac"
PC
"And I'm a PC"
(PC is wearing a brightly-colored, gaudy shirt made of vinyl, and glossy green vinyl pants along with a big pair of glasses with flashing lights around the frame)
Mac
"Uh... PC, what is that you're wearing?"
PC
"Do you like it? It's my new operating system, Vista. Doesn't it make me look great?"
Mac
"Well, to be honest, it's kind of bright. Does it do anything else?"
PC
"Of course! Besides giving me a total image change, it gives me new featu-featu-featu-featu-"
PC's glasses stop flashing. His head is tilted slightly.
Mac
"PC? Are you OK? PC?"
(PC reverts to his plain old suit suddenly)
PC
"Ah. There. I guess I don't have enough memory now to talk *and* look that awesome at the same time. I guess I'll need to upgrade if I want to try out those new colors."
Mac
"It's totally worth it."
PC
"Right!"
(PC does a double-take, trying to figure out if that was an insult or not)
End.
Vista's shodow copy does have the advantage of not needing a backup hard drive

If each backup is done on the hour, does this mean the mac guy changes his clothes every hour? Hmmmm. ;-)
i thought exactly the same thing! "gee, mac sure is a clothes horse, changing his shirt every hour. that can't look too good..."

I think apple does a wonderful job of making a commercial to highlight a new feature of their operating system and does it in a non cynical way. Though, I find them hilarious, some of apples commercials have definitely been quite the mockery in regards to the PC. Though I must say time machine is much more useful than the roll back capabilities that some people have been trying to compare. Quite frankly, there is no real comparision. Time Machine offers the ability to completely re-image the machine from an entire operating system image point. Vista / XP system restore/ rollback does not do that. The time machine software, in my opinion would be more easily compared to Acronis True Image as opposed to XP/Vista all together

Sure, you can use it to backup an entire disk image periodically... like Windows or Software X; but it is really designed and marketed as a file revision(version)/deletion recoverer. For example, if I went through and used find and replace on a 25 page dissertation to replace every instance of the word "example" with "bacon"; all one would have to do is simply go back to yesterday and recover the file.
i think they should have started with just the two of them, and PC trying to remember something, and then Mac says "Hm, let me check" and then all the previous versions zoom out behind him like in the actual interface. It could be something embarrassing to PC like PC thinks he said something smart and then old version of Mac confirms he didn't. Something like that, I dont know, i think would have worked better.
