Eye-Fi gains Mac and iPhoto compatibility
The Eye-Fi is an interesting concept: it integrates a WiFi radio into an SD memory card, allowing you to upload images directly from your camera to your computer or to a web photo service. In conjunction with Macworld, the company has announced an update that adds Mac compatibility to the card for direct wireless import into iPhoto in Leopard (as well as setup with Safari). It remains compatible with 19 online services including flickr, Picasa and others, but sadly not .Mac yet. The 2GB Eye-FI card costs $99.99. The Mac update is compatible with existing Eye-Fi cards and is available for download now.

Sorry, but update is not downloadable now. It's previous version, actually.

I wish they'd expand this, I would kill for it and $99 seems very reasonable. Unfortunately my camera takes xD cards and my wife's a memory stick. Both of those are smaller than SD cards so I'm not sure if it's even possible to do it, but it's a fantastic idea.

Awesome! I've been really wanting one for a while, but I was holding out until they added iPhoto support. Today's been quite a money sink - first a Time Capsule, now an eyeFi…
(BTW, this article is yet another example of why names should never start with punctuation. I needed a double take to work out what was meant by "but sadly not .Mac yet. "

If it's compatible with iPhoto, does it really matter if it's directly compatible with .Mac?

Yeah, because then you could upload to web galleries without the need for a computer (just set up the Eye-Fi for the wireless network & .Mac syncing just like flickr or picasa). I've already emailed their support staff asking for the feature, and they said if the demand is high enough they will try to add it.
