Reminder, 10% off new iPods with trade-in

If you're shopping for a new iPod this week, Daniel Jalkut at Red Sweater reminded us that you can get a 10% discount on a new iPod any day at your local Apple Store if you do one simple thing: bring in an old iPod to trade in. The program's been around since 2005, but it's always worth another mention.

There are plenty of other options for recycling an old iPod, including some that will give you credit -- check them out. Rumor has it that some retail outlets are discounting iPods as well...

Just for an awesome deal... Circuit city sells their open box ipods for between 124-149.97 for an ipod classic (the new one with the matte finish). Its kinda hit or miss if they work, but they are all still in the 1 year warranty. So I bought an 80 gig classic for 124.87 plus tax, and it worked for a couple days and then the screen went completely white all the time. I brought it into an apple store and they swapped it out for a refurb right there in the store! Even if they have to send it in, waiting a couple days and saving 1/2 on an ipod isnt a bad deal!

Can you turn in 2 iPods for 20% off? I'm betting not, but thought someone might know. I have a couple around (2 2G and a 4G).

You can turn in any ipod, bricked or not for 10% of the purchase price of any new ipod. This does not stack, so you can only use one discount.

FYI, I noticed today (due to one of their promo emails) that Circuit City has 'add to cart to see...' discounts on various iPods on their site as well. So, just checked BestBuy.com and they are doing the same thing. Could we be in for a bump in iPod specs soon?

Is this offer available at Apple Store in Canada?

It wasn't in 2006, when I wanted to trade my broken 3G iPod in for a 5G. Things may have changed since then, though.

What a rip off. I sell my old iPod on eBay right before I upgrade and only end up paying $30 for a new iPod.

Yes, but does your old iPod work? Good luck getting a price on ebay for a brick. It sounds (confirm?) like you can give apple a brick for $30. That's a good deal.

Oh, and any idea if this is valid on all iPod models for all new iPod models or are there any exclusions? What I'm getting at basically: Can you trade in a shuffle/nano/mini/photo/video/1G/2G/3G and get 10% off on a shuffle/nano/classic/touch? Are there any of those combinations that are not valid?

I assume this is still valid even if the old iPod is a brick, correct?

This week only? It sounds like its an ongoing thing, but you might want to clarify the post.
