A sampling of Mac games on display at Macworld 2008
Mike took a tour of some Mac game booths over in Moscone West. Check out a quick review of Tiger Woods Golf, Sims Pool and Sims Bowling for the iPod, making machinima using 'The Movies' (who'd a thunk it), a brief interlude with Aquaria, a true Guitar Hero (seriously, one of the world's best takes on the hardest song on the hardest setting), and a look at EVE Online, now available in PC, Linux and Mac. All this in less than 9 minutes.

Not to be a hater, but that guy playing Guitar Hero gets zero points for style. Isn't that half the point of playing--making awesome guitar faces and sticking your tongue out KISS style?

March 03 2008 at 5:14 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWas that really Aquaria on a Mac, or was it on PC? Mac port isn't out yet.
And yeah, I started the video thinking "yeah right 'real Guitar Hero,' I could probably do better" but when the guy came on, he definitely proved me wrong. :)
As far as I know it was Aquaria running on the Mac, but can't say for sure.

January 22 2008 at 7:55 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI've been playing "The Movies" on my Mac for a long time now- - - In Boot Camp.
Sure, it would be nice to play in OS X, but if it's not easy to find in stores, not the same low price as it is for Windows, and not supported as much by the web community, then the advantages go out the door.
I got my copy of "The Movies" for about $10 and the add-on Stunts pack for another $10. . . I doubt the Mac version is available for any less than $45 right now.
THIS is the problem with Mac gaming. If companies porting/making games for Mac continue to RIP US OFF when it comes to the price, we'll continue to find the cheaper, almost identical experience to be preferable.
Why would I get the exact same title for $45 (plus another $24 for the expansion pack) when it's under $20 elsewhere, for a different OS on the same computer?
Fix the price and I'll buy Mac games. I refuse to pay extra for the same item just because I'm on a different OS.
Is that Chewbacca I hear at 1:03?? LOL.

January 22 2008 at 1:33 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYea, I am glad that Macs and Apple are pulling ahead slowly as Vista fails even harder. I downgraded to XP last week from Vista on my custom-build PC. From that moment on I knew I wanted the Black MacBook. Sleek, simple, and sexy: Apple.
