Build your own Apple Store

The fixtures at Apple Stores are very physical manifestations of Apple's legendary attention to detail. They are amongst the best designed consumer experiences I have ever had in an electronics store (many high end boutiques offer up the same attention to detail, but they are also not selling computers and iPods). Therefore, it makes sense to me that some people might want to buy similar things for their own and now you can. OOBject has compiled a list of all the materials that go into an Apple store (OK, if not everything in an Apple store, then lots of things that you might find).

too bad you can't even use an apple gift card to purchase all of the apple products (iphone)...

never heard of a store not allowing you to use it's own gift card.

apparently, prices range from "please fill out this form to receive a catalogue" to "If you have to ask..."

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!

This is EXACTLY what I have been looking for!! I just was at an Apple Store and asked about the Glass Stairs because, we want to build a deck over our atrium with double french doors to the upstairs landing. The problem was that if we built a regular deck, it would make the dining room too dark. Then I thought about the Apple Store stairway and said , "What about a Glass Deck, ala the Apple Store?" 4 sections of frosted glass lets the light through to the first floor and a stainless steel frame. How COOL!! I'll be contacting the stair company right away!

Well, about the only thing on that list that I find in my local Apple store (Corte Madera, CA) is the table.

There's no stairs, seating, restrooms... it's pretty low-end for an Apple store.

I am SO incredibly tempted to buy one of those tables and use it as a desk. Nice and big with lots of room to work.

I want one of those tables too. I have room for one in my bedroom. I heard they cost over $6k.

A similar table is Gus Design Group's Chunk Dining Table.

I've ordered one myself several months ago, and should be here sometime next month :D

I certainly wouldn't mind owning one of those tables. I shudder to think how much one might cost though.

my buddy works at the apple store in south lake, tx and said [he was told] that Apple actually owns a mountain quarry in Japan where all the floor tiles in all the stores comes from. He also said that base overhead cost for opening an apple store is in the ballpark of 1.5mil and thats not even a flagship!
