If you're an iWork 08 user, then you may want to run a software update, as Apple has just pushed out updates for all three applications. As ever, there's hugely informative release notes: for
Pages 3.0.2 and
Numbers 1.0.2 "[t]his update addresses compatibility with Mac OS X" while the
Keynote 4.0.2 update "primarily addresses performance issues while playing or exporting presentations."
On the TUAW Intel testbed here in the UK, the updates weigh in at 32.4MB, 29.3MB and 27.4MB for Keynote, Pages and Numbers respectively.

Downloaded the updates … but when I try to install, I get an alert that an eligible application cannot be found in the location /Applications. And yet, that is indeed where those applications actually are! What gives?

I wish i could put on some mathematical formulas into iWork. Since i have a physics course it would help if i had something to easily put in formulas and such.

I hope this fixed some of the numerous numbers bugs x_x and the couple pages bugs. keynote has seemed to work excellently for me, though I remember hearing of a bug that caused the comp to crash when you hit play so I sure hope that's fixed.

@XGM You should give LatexIT a try. It is a simplified version of Latex which only generates equations and the commands while scary at first are easy to get the hang of.
For example, for the greek symbol "mu" type \mu for square root of 2 \sqrt{2}.
LatexIt generates a transparent PDF graphic of the equation which you can drag into your document. It comes out extremely professional (indeed most professional Physics textbooks are set using Latex!)

Keynote had some major issue exporting to Quicktime. I tried to use it to put some graphs and stuff together for a video. It would not play well with any transitions or anything more complicated than changing to the next slide. Hopefully they fixed that.

Unless they made it less bloated, I'll stick to using WriteRoom.

The update to Keynote fixes some of the export to Quicktime timing issues. Now you can export to full size, custom settings a .mov export with recorded timing.
However, try to add a voice over to that and the timing is again, way way off.
This is a bit of an improvement, but still without the ability to create properly timed narrated presentation that can be exported and burned to DVD at full quality, Keynote still does not work as advertised...

I downloaded the update and tested the stuff that I was doing. It works perfectly, of course the project was due 2 weeks ago and I had to find another work around.
As for the Audio, I ended up just popping it in iMovie and Garageband and doing the audio there. You have more control of the audio in those programs anyway.

Software update isn't even finding the updates. Maybe Allen, Sandeep, and Rich's problems were the reason?

Like the man says, you need to recreate the iWork '08 (written like that) folder in Applications - and put the three programmes in it - then all is peace and love.

Aha! Thanks for the tip.

Can anybody help with how to make a pdf file that is small enough to email from a Numbers document that's very big. I added thumbnails of photos to a Numbers spreadsheet (I thought the thumbnails would be small, but no) and the resulting 10 pg. file was 94 MB. Numbers' smallest pdf setting produced a 35 MB pdf file -- way too big to be useful for anything. Acrobat Distiller won't recognize Numbers files (how come?), and the Numbers file won't go into InDesign (a tedious solution but I can distill better from InDesign). Numbers isn't much use to me if I can't get the file into a shareable size! Any ideas?

Depending on how small it needs to be, try using repeat compression (e.g. somefile.zip.dmg).
