iPhonesque makes Growl look like the iPhone

Can't say I ever really vibed with any of the default Growl styles (Music Video is cool for showing off your Mac, but a little too distracting for common use), and I've pretty much just stuck with Smoke, because it's simple and cool looking. But iPhonesque is nice enough to make me switch without a thought -- it's a Growl style designed to look like the iPhone's compact little dialogues. In other words, it's flashy enough to look cool, but minimal enough that it doesn't drive you nuts when messages back up in Growl.

Any other Growl styles that you all really like?

Could someone please tell me where you can get that cool Simpsons style iTunes icon?

It was made from icons here http://www.iconarchive.com/category/movie/simpsons-icons-by-anton-gerasimenko.html

I'll whip one up real quick for you if you want.

Could someone tell me how where I need to put the files once I get them. I can't figure out how to add new themes.

you just need to double click the Growl style. It should automatically add the style to Growl. Then go into your System Preferences and click Growl, then Display Options and you can change your style from the drop down there.

I'm not super happy with the size of the bubble and with the way it scales certain icons up, but overall it's pretty good.

I've always wanted one that looks like the Xbox 360 notification popup.

Hi John,
I am the creator of the GrowlHUD style mentioned earlier posts, I could give the Xbox style a go if you can help me find a picture of it. I have searched for some time but come up with nothing.

Forget iPhonesque (although it is very nice), that is the greatest iTunes replacement icon I have ever seen. Is that icon freely available for use without growl, and if so where can I get it?

This is great except you can't have it come up in the center of the screen like bezel. And according to their forums, it's impossible to add this feature. I'll stay with bezel for now.

Mystic, what you said is mostly true, but it would be possible if some competent objective-C coder, would write this in objective-C then it would be able to pop up in the center, and possibly even do the same pop-out effect as the actual iPhone does. Any takers?

I haven't had problems with Growl under Leopard—it works as expected, even when I'm in a second/third/fourth space.

I mostly use Smoke because it's unobtrusive. For really minor notifications, like NetNewsWire feed downloads, I use Nano.

@dan: Growl works fine with Leopard... until you use Spaces. Then it has a habit of only bringing notifications up in one space. As it runs as a pref pane, you don't seem to be able to assign it to all spaces :(

Just go to the Spaces preference pane, and add Growl Helper App to All Space. Growl is still a bit wonky on Leopard.

I like the music video style, with 0% (background) opacity, for music notifications. :) Large album art and all that.

I just use Growl's speech option. That way I still get notified even if I am away from my computer. This works very nicely with Leopard's Alex voice which is much easier to understand without the need to concentrate on what is being said.

Care to share how you set that, I cannot see any options in the pref pain

"Speech" is my last option in the Display Options portion of the preferences for Growl. If it isn't standard, I don't remember how it got there. But, it is credited to "Ingmar Stein."
