TomTom releases new management tool for Mac
Getting your dash-mount GPS unit and your Mac to talk to each other can be an exercise in frustration. TomTom's Mac client, while better than some of the other vendors' nonexistent Mac versions, has lagged behind the Windows version for a while -- I've been managing my TomTom GO through VMware Fusion rather than struggle with the Mac client. Now, a version of the TomTom client promising feature parity has been released, downloadable from the TomTom HOME site (direct link here). The new 2.2.0 version does look a bit more like the Windows version, and seems to work fine for me; however, some have noted that you are now limited to a single backup of your device, rather than the multiple instances that you had before. Since a single TomTom backup can weigh in at 900 MB or more, I'm just fine with only one. The download is 31 MB and is freely available to TomTom users.
Thanks Rob

Garmin's got Mac support also:

for the web updater anyway. For sync it just looks like flash drive. They've had support for macs for about a year now.

I second that. The page really loads super slow now with that background. Make it simple. We like to read the articles, not look at the pictures. Sure a good design/visual is always nice, but it cannot affect the functionality or it doesn't make sense.

Please disregard my previous comment. It was automatically sent by using 1Password. It captured the text of one of my previous comments and automatically sent it again. Oh well.
Anyway, I tried twice to download the update and the image doesn't mount. There is probably something wrong it with it.

It's been out for a couple of days, head over to pocketgps dot co dot uk for a community of comments.
Looks pretty, enables the new features, unstable on Leopard. Crashes like Britney Spears at the wheel of a Merc after some meth.

I tried downloading it but get a corrupted ".bz2" file which will not open. anyone else have this problem?

I had the ".bz2" problem too. On a whim I just deleted the .bz2 extension so it was just ".dmg" mounted fine. Someone at TomTom must have planed on compressing it but didn't and for whatever reason applied the extension.
I don't know why it would expand though. Kept expanding to new file (same name) with .dmg extension but 101 MB. Weird.

Currently I'm unable to "control" my TomTom while it's connected to my Mac. It tries to install some "needed" software, but it always fails after the download. Which is also why I can't download locations from Google Maps using the Send To GPS function. If TomTom could fix these major problems it would make the device much more useful.

This is just to second obtuse goose's comments. Those are the two really significant missing pieces.
