I've also experienced a problem with the QuickTime 7.4.1 update. After a reboot, my Mac Mini will sleep/wake correctly only once. The next time it tries to sleep, it won't sleep completely. And, no mouse or keyboard activity will wake it. I have to hold the power button for 5 seconds to manually power it down then reboot. I noticed that my Power Save settings had been modified from where I had it set.

Is it possible this was caused by the QuickTime update? It started happening right after that update was installed. The installer didn't behave properly either. After downloading/installing the update, instead of saying that the update was installed correctly, it came back up telling me to download the update. But, the button for updating was grayed out. I just closed the box.

Why have so many people had problems with this 7.4.1 update? And, how do we "roll back" to the previous version of QuickTime?

After installing the update for Tiger (QuickTime/ProKit), I've lost customisations on every single app and lost all mail/mailboxes, contact info in address book etc.... and the dock half reset itself, though thankfully, I didn't lose it! What's going on?! C'mon Apple...

After this update for my Tiger 10.4.11 of Quick Time 7.4.1
I can no longer render out of
After Effects CS3 using the Motion JPEG A Codec for
QuickTime mov's.

This really pisses me off cause it's a sweet Codec for small file size and retains really good picture quality.
Way bertter that H.264 which washes out everything.

Anyone else having this issue?
Or know of a Codec as good as Motion JPEG-A for this issue?

help?!!

So, After reading that many others have had other issues with QT 7.4.1 and After Effects, and even with iPods and iTunes,
I found a couple solutions.
one is here: ( to downgrade to 7.3.1 )
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1347251&tstart=0

The other, for my issue of not having the Motion JPEG A Codec show up.
Is to open your System Preferences and go to QuickTime,
and then Advanced and select >show legacy encoders.
That worked for me.. luckily I didn't get the other render issue other people were getting.. (knock on wood)

hope this helps.
peace,

After the reboot my MacBook no longer believes it has Bluetooth. I'm not certain that it is due to the quicktime update or the Pro apps. update that I installed at the same time; it's just weird.

Try doing a shutdown and then a cold startup. If you're using a wireless mouse other than mighty try checking mouse batteries before starting up. It happens once a time to me when batteries ran down.

Thanks to Marc Jaffe I was able to get out of the setup assistant loop of death. Let's just say I'm not too happy with Apple/Leopard right now.

After installing the update, the mac pro was going into the blue screen-reboot phase. It hung up on the blue screen (I was having leopard install flashbacks) so I had to do a hard reboot after a few minutes.

When I logged back in it turns out my Time Machine drive's S.M.A.R.T. status has failed. Isn't time capsule supposed to be available soon? Hmmmm how convenient ; )

Still has not fixed the issue with fullscreen on G4's running Leopard.

Quicktime has essentially been CRIPLED since I upgrade to leopard and I've been forced to use VLC.

I know... everyone loves VLC but personally I prefer quicktime.

Whats even more annoying is I cant even watch my own films I export in final cut because of the poor performance of quicktime.

Seriously! Fix this apple!

to get out of the setup assistant loop of death. Restart the computer holding the shift key to get into safe boot. then shut down. You will then see Quicktime finally install... that was fun. M

I just want to know when the gamma shift issue with Core Image/Video will be fixed. It is extremely annoying to have h264 files continuously show up lighter and less saturated than their original.

Even more annoying is that if I increase/decrease the volume or brightness and that little bezel comes up over the video, it briefly looks like normal until the bezel disappears again.
