Spore is coming to the Mac on September 7th
Spore; the very word is enough to make certain gamers giddy with delight. Spore, for those not in the know, is the latest project of Will Wright, creator of the Sims. Much like the Sims, Spore is a sort of life simulation game, only this time you start off as a little micro-organism floating in primordial ooze, and you control you own evolution as you create a civilization that eventually launches itself into space to colonize other planets.Spore has been many years in the making, and today it was announced that you will be able to play Spore on your Mac starting on September 7th, 2008. At this time system requirements are not known.

Well as far as the requirements go...
Since i nthe videos they use a Dell XPS:
The windows requirements will be:
Min: Rec:
RAM:
1 Gig of RAM 2 Gigs of RAM
Graphics:
~256 Mb Video RAM ~512 Mb Video RAM
Memory:
~5 Gigs of Space ~10 Gigis of Space
Internet:
Broadband Broadband
Processor:
2.8 GHz Intel Duo 3.4 GHz Quad Core
*Note: These maybe be higher then nessassary but then again I put in (~) or about symbol. As somone has pointed out the Processor cost will most likley be high. Though the graphics seem to be weakened due to cartoonish appeal this doesn't mean that the graphic cost wont be high exscpecially with as much detail there is in the game itself, including physics which today is usually driven by graphics cards. Now I don;t completely know MACs processors nor how they work compared to a Intel, even with MAC going Intel, so I can;t give you an exact bit of data, but assume it will be a Processor hog and maybe even a Graphics hog. Yes I added Broadband Internet becasue there is talk from Will that there will be online multiplayer later plus the already added p2p database for planets that players add through content downloaders. Good luck guys!
I've been waiting for this for years, even back when I used a Windows laptop. Now, I have a reason to use my MacBook for gaming. So many wasted hours await me...

February 13 2008 at 1:50 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyas for the Macbook questions: I have heard it is a mainly processor-intensive game, rather than graphics. So the integrated might be okay (though that's just I'm hoping, since I'm on a Macbook, too)

February 12 2008 at 11:41 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyFunny, my friend actually told me (a few years ago) that if Spore were going to come out on the Mac, then he'd consider getting one.
I guess I'll give him a heads up to this.
Will... I be able to play it on my GMA 950'd Macbook?
February 12 2008 at 8:36 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI was wondering the same thing about my 2.2 macbook. We're left out of all the fun hahaha
February 12 2008 at 10:14 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThis crap is going to be the second-biggest disappointment in the history of gaming.. after Duke Nukem Forever.
February 12 2008 at 8:04 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYeah, because Will Wright has a reputation for delivering utter crap year after year, game after game. [eyeroll]
February 12 2008 at 8:16 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYeah i'd love to pre-order the mac version too!
