I have no idea just how big this intersection might be (in terms of sheer numbers, it has to be pretty big, I guess), but if you're a Yahoo! Mail user and a Safari 3 user, prepare to smile, because Yahoo! says that you can now
get in on the "All-New Yahoo! Mail" fun. "All-New Yahoo! Mail" is apparently an AJAX-based,
slick piece of webmail software built on the
Oddpost engine -- I wouldn't really know all the features because Gmail has wrapped its simple-to-use tendrils completely around my life, from iPhone to all the different browsers I use.
But if you've been dedicated to Safari 3 since it came out, and chomping at the bit to use this "All-New Yahoo! Mail," now's your chance. Yahoo! does specifically say "Safari 3 on the Mac," but I'd assume it would work for the Windows version of Safari 3 as well -- if you have any problems, they'll probably fix it, and then they'll have to call it "The Newer All-New Yahoo! Mail." God forbid they come up with something newer than that.

Yeah too bad it doesn't work with Firefox 3.

Also, too bad they don't yet offer POP access for free, like everyone else. Bastards.

hasn't the yahoo mail beta always worked with safari? at least it has been for me, just very unstable.

The Yahoo Mail beta has sort of worked with Safari 3 for a while, and was stable. There were however gaping holes feature wise -- i.e. Config Options, Help, etc. were all inaccessible. It seems feature complete now.

Honestly, I only use Yahoo to have a backup of my address book :) (and then sync it back to gMail)
I still don't understand why there is no built-in address book syncing to gMail capability in Leopard - I mean, they use Google Maps everywhere, iChat can utilize Google Talk and generally Apple has very good relationship with Google...

I've been using the new Yahoo! Mail for months with Safari with very few problems. Before Safari 3.0 I was using it with Firefox. It's by far the best online email available, even better than gmail IMO. It's basically a full blown email app inside your browser full of drag-and-drop functionality, right click menus, keyboard shortcuts, and many other great features. IT ROCKS!!!
PLEASE DON'T LET MICROSOFT BUY YAHOO AND RUIN IT JUST LIKE THEY RUIN EVERYTHING ELSE THEY BUY...ESPECIALLY MAC ORIENTED COMPANIES (ie Bungie and Connectix VirtualPC to name a few)

I agree. The interface blasts away gmail and even .mac mail online.

finally. I've been waiting for literally forever. I started to think they might have forgotten. For some reason, Firefox crashes a lot on my 2.2 SR Macbook Pro.

Ajax on safari isn't the best...
WE have an uploader script on our site called filechucker, and it has to do special things for safari (it can't process the AJAX filebar and upload in the same window, so it has to open a popup, but only in safari)... Thats the one area Safari is behind in...

ah sweet! This was actually one of the main reasons i switched to Camino. However I'm hooked on Camino now and I can't turn back.
I'm just happy that iPod touches get yahoo! mail now too. But again, that was the reason I switched to gmail and there's no turning back from it either.

I'm still on Y!mail classic. there's an All-New Mail link on the top of the page, but it gives me this page:
Your browser is not officially supported by the new Rogers Yahoo! Mail.
The all-new Rogers Yahoo! Mail hasn't been tested on your browser. You can choose to continue, or simply go to Rogers Yahoo! Mail Classic.
strange?
I'm on 10.5.2

No luck here...! And for some reasons it confronts me with the same error messages like when I try to log on using Firefox3...!?! First those two error messages...
(stuff like: "Yahoo! Mail experienced a login error: Login error: name:TypeError message:Null value")
...and then it attempts to load new messages, but takes forever...until it finally recommends I should switch to Classic Mail...!?! :(((
(Mail appears to be taking longer to load than usual.
This could be a temporary glitch. Try refreshing your page. Or for this session only, click here to see if Mail Classic loads faster.")
If I don't do that I cannot even sign off, clicking the link just won't work...
Oh, and every now and then I get the "your browser is not supported" message when I try to log on...not always though...!? It's still extremely messed up...!!!

Here's something I found in one of the comments on their blog:
"If you tried and it’s not working, that just means the server farm your account is on hasn’t been updated yet. As I mentioned in the post, this should only take a couple weeks to get out to everyone."
Guess I'm one of those then...!? :(

This has not worked out for me still. I can log in to my regular yahoo mail, but my hosted e-mail address on Yahoo servers still has problems. ı guess it is part of the rollout. However I should say that Yahoo! is and has always been very cluttered for my taste. I like simple things, like Google, Gmail, Mac OSX and MBP :)

They've had this new user interface out for about a year and they still haven't updated the calendar and notepad interfaces to match.
I feel like they've been sitting on their hands hoping for new users. Google has repeatedly stepped up with a new software, new web apps, etc. Yahoo needs to do the same.
