Yahoo! Mail now works with Safari 3

I have no idea just how big this intersection might be (in terms of sheer numbers, it has to be pretty big, I guess), but if you're a Yahoo! Mail user and a Safari 3 user, prepare to smile, because Yahoo! says that you can now get in on the "All-New Yahoo! Mail" fun. "All-New Yahoo! Mail" is apparently an AJAX-based, slick piece of webmail software built on the Oddpost engine -- I wouldn't really know all the features because Gmail has wrapped its simple-to-use tendrils completely around my life, from iPhone to all the different browsers I use.

But if you've been dedicated to Safari 3 since it came out, and chomping at the bit to use this "All-New Yahoo! Mail," now's your chance. Yahoo! does specifically say "Safari 3 on the Mac," but I'd assume it would work for the Windows version of Safari 3 as well -- if you have any problems, they'll probably fix it, and then they'll have to call it "The Newer All-New Yahoo! Mail." God forbid they come up with something newer than that.

When attempting to access the new Yahoo interface with safari 3, i'm still presented with the "Hmm...your browser is not officially supported," message. I guess compatibility is for leopard users of safari 3.

There are people who still use Yahoo for email? Last I heard, they STILL charge money for POP and forwarding. And they don't even *offer* IMAP access, which is incredible when used on multiple devices compared to the mess you get with POP.

Gmail has all this for free.

Yeah, I've definitely been using it with Safari 3 since I got Safari 3. I've had no problems. I guess it's just officially supported now.

Still seems slow and unstable to me. For now, I'll tick to using Firefox for the AJAX goodness.

The new Yahoo mail looks like it is based on Zimbra, who Yahoo purchased last year.

Zimbra 5.0 released in December added Safari 3.0 support. It is available as an Open Source Community Edition or for purchase. It runs on numerous platforms including Mac OS X. You can find out more at http://www.zimbra.com/

"Ouch! The error, LaunchCurlError-28, occurred when trying to connect to Yahoo! Mail."

Hey, the final is just like the beta!

The only thing holding me back from making my Yahoo! Account my primary e-mail address is its lack of free POP service to Apple Mail. Its push service on the iPhone is great, but what good is a mail account that I can only check on my phone?

Guys, if you're having intermittent Safari 3 crashes with the new Yahoo Mail, sign out of Yahoo chat.

I've been using the new Yahoo Mail with Safari 3 since Safari 3 came out, and it used to crash every 20 minutes or so. Now, having turned off chat, I can leave Yahoo Mail in a background tab all day, and no problems.
