The Street: "Mac Owners Are Snobs"
According to a recent The Street video, they say that Mac users are "snobs." The video, which is based on research by Mindset Media says that Mac owners are more likely:- to be perfectionists
- to use notebooks
- to use teeth whitening products
- to drive station wagons
- to pay for downloaded music
- to go to Starbucks
- care about "green" products and the environment
- to own a hybrid car
- and last but not least ... to buy 5 pairs of sneakers in a year

I can't even be bothered to stoop low enough to respond. Anyways why would I waste time on this when I could be scanning my sneaker collection with Delicious Library! See you at Starbucks.

Now I feel like spraying a can of paint up at the ozone layer.
This is some absurb logic. My already low opinion of The Street just went lower...but wait...that might make me a snob...for having an opinion.

Well S#!T, I only fit 1 of the 9 stereotypes of a Mac user.... Does this mean I have to get rid of my Mac & switch back to a PC ????
1. Nowhere NEAR being a perfectionist !
2. I use an Alum. iMac....
3. Just plain old tooth paste for me....
4. I drive a '95 GAS GUZZLING 4X4......
5. I DO buy my music (Both from iTunes & Store bought CD's)......
6. I will NEVER go to Starbucks !
7. While I DO care about the environment, "Global Warming" is a "CYCLICAL" changing of the earth that has been going on since its creation !
8. Refer to # 4.....
9. I have owned the same 2 pair of sneakers for about 5 years.....
I am as CONSERVATIVE as they come, unlike what the video stated !

Well, I am a perfectionist when it comes to my computer.. Always keeping the room it's in and the computer itself clean.
I kind of like Starbucks, but I don't do/have any of the other things.
I try to be nice to people, and I'm usually quiet. I don't think I act like a snob, maybe I do... I don't know lol

Well, what is a snob? ..... is it someone who just has specific tastes? Dictionary says >>>>
1. A person who imitates, cultivates, or slavishly admires social superiors and is condescending or overbearing to others.
2. A person who believes himself or herself an expert or connoisseur in a given field and is condescending toward or disdainful of those who hold other opinions or have different tastes regarding this field.
I like macs because they make the pc World a hell of a lot better that just Grey! Can you imagine how boring/ dull it would be without Apple to spice it up. Still, they can be provocative sometimes.

I think Mac users are generally well intentioned, and really believe that their friends and acquaintances will be happier if they switched to a Mac, and this sometimes comes off as being "snobby". Its not that they think *they* are better, but that they think *Macs* are better and want everyone to share their happiness.

Actually I drive a gas guzzling Hummer H2, only reason I got it was to pollute the environment with gasses. Also, my teeth are so white that I can reflect the sun off of them and burn holes into the O-Zone Layer.
Last, as a hobby I run a sneaker museum, in which 90% of the sneakers were mine.

I've got 4...perfectionist, teeth whitening, downloaded music, care about "green" products and the environment. And I used to drive a wagon but it was inherited so that either doesn't count or counts doubly for being a wagon and reusing a car. Now I don't own a car and rely on public transit :) Oh, and I'm a liberal.
All fine by me.

In the media, anything with the words "Mac" and "lifestyle" you are going to attach some attentions...
Liberal? I don't think so. Rush Limbaugh is a mac user. :P
As for those bullet points, to me, those are the profile for economically well-off and educated person. I smell a class war coming on....
Snob? I don't think so.

In my family we have 3 imacs and 1 macbook. Three Iphones and 1 Blackberry. We dont like Starbucks. We pay for downloads because We don't like to break copy right laws. We buy 4 pair of sneakers, because there are 4 of us in the family. We have 4 gas eating cars. We know that everyone makes mistakes and that is just life.

I'm a NRA member, Republican, church-going Van Halen fan that drives a Chevy truck......with a custom exhaust system on it.
Oh, and I also use a Mac. Been an Apple fan since the Apple II Plus.
