Airfoil 3.1 adds Apple TV support
Rogue Amoeba has announced an update for Airfoil to version 3.1, adding support for sending audio to the Apple TV. Unlike the built-in iTunes support, Airfoil allows you to stream any audio source from your Mac to your Apple TV, Airport Express, or other Macs running their Airfoil Speakers client application. This allows you to use your Apple TV to listen to web-based "radio" sources like Pandora (my favorite) or last.fm, as well as other media players like QuickTime Player, etc. Airfoil 3.1 is a free update to registered users and $25 for new users. A demo is available for download.

I am still waiting for an app that can "hi-jack" or take over air tunes. At work sometimes people leave and forget to turn off iTunes. Listening to other peoples sucky music is one thing, being forced to listen to it when they are not even there is another.

Does anyone know a tool that would allow me to do this but also change the station on a last fm or itunes stream.
I think this is great but i like to switch it up as opposed to sending one stream to the appletv and then if i need to change the station i have to go to the computer.
Is there anything short of a apple tv that vncs into the main mac with that has remote buddy or something?
thanks

Your MacBook doesn't have a headphone jack?

clever, why didnt i think of trailing a cable 20m across the room to my stereo stack, that a much more elegant solution.

The only really reason I would want to use this app is to watch movies on my MBP and send the audio to my speakers connected to an Airport Express.
They are saying there is a hardware limitation in the Airport Express which prevents the image and sound to be in sync.
Please someone let me know if they solved this problem.

Richard:
In version 3.0, AirFoil added a feature called the AirFoil video player that does an excellent job syncing videos played through its interface.
Unfortunately, I haven't figured out a way to take advantage of this functionality with iTunes movie rentals -- I'd love to hook up my MBP to my LCD TV via DVI-HDMI, then stream audio to my stereo.
