MotiMotion Prospects manages your cash
In addition to pretty graphs of your cash, you also can create: budgets, reports, categories, rules, and more. You can import QIF, OFX, and QFX files from your online banking website or from other money management applications. So, if you are in the market for a good money management application, then you should give Prospects a try.
You can download Prospects from the MotiMotion website. They offer a free version that limits you to 100 transactions across your accounts or a single-user license for $35 (they also offer a family license for $10 more).

Is anyone aware of a Tiger-compatible program that does automatic downloads (aside from Quicken and gnucash)?

The Mac Quicken interface basically sucks (IMHO) but I need an app that will both download my transactions from my bank and allow me to pay online...

Thanks for checking out the software - I am the developer of the product. There were some issues in the 1.0 release with importing data that caused the issues you describe above. Many of these have been resolved in 1.0.1 - which came out last night. If you haven't tried 1.0.1, you may want to take a second look.
If you have rules defined for the categories, they will be applied on each import (unless you elect not to use them) to the proper transactions.
Transfers are coming in the next release of the software.
Yes, this is a 1.0 product - but we feel it provides a great and different way to manage and view your money. Again, I hope you at least glance at the 1.0.1 release as it does resolve many of the issues you describe. Thanks!

Sorry Mike, I didn't mean for my comment to come across as negative as it was, I do like aspects of this software and feel it has great potential. (the interface is one of the best i have seen yet)
It was 1.0.1 that i tested but perhaps its a conflict with another program on my computer that made it crash.
If account transfers are being added to the next release that will be a definite plus, I'll keep an eye out for it and try it again.
Another feature that you may want to add to the next release (for people like myself that are not in the States) is the ability to change the default date format from mm/dd/yy to dd/mm/yy.. Sounds silly but it makes the world of difference.
Japan is a cash-based society so as such I rely on carrying cash on me rather than banking solely out of a checking account or credit card.
I haven't tried this, but I did get Cha-Ching as part of the MacHeist bundle and (other problems notwithstanding) I find it difficult, if not impossible, to manage an account and also keep track of cash flow and individual transactions. If I record cash-outs, I'm not able to figure out just what I'm spending my money on, and if I record transactions, I can't tell how much cash I have on me and make any larger meta-predictions about my money and accounts. Any programs (including this one) that might help me solve a conundrum like this?
this program looks interesting but you might also take a look at MoneyWell. I'd tried iBank and a few others but I've been real happy with MoneyWell for helping really track my expenses of which a lot are cash out of pocket.
February 26 2008 at 11:55 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI have tried this program and although the interface and general idea are ok, its full of bugs and errors, I would class it at best a beta release and don't see how they expect people to pay $35 for it at this stage, still needs a lot of work..
Main problems i found where:
Errors when saving data file and crashes a lot
No function to transfer funds between accounts
Doesn't remember transaction category details from one import to the next (even though they say it should!)
Maybe with a bit more work it will be worth a second look but for now i'm sticking with Moneydance

Moneywell from No Thirst Software. It ain't perfect, but it's pretty good and once you get the hang of it... well, it just works.
