Macjournal 5 is ready to go

Mariner Software's MacJournal received a major update this week with some great new features. If you're unfamiliar, MacJournal is a great journaling and organization application with podcasting support, AES-256 encryption and more. It's quite useful and full-featured.

Speaking of features, changes to version 5.0.2 include:
  • An all-new interface
  • Smart Journals based on search criteria
  • Keep multiple journals open at once
  • Support for more file types
  • Integration with Picasa and Quick Look.
  • .Mac synchronization
You can publish to many popular blogging services including your .Mac account. There's more, of course, and you can get the full run-down here.

Macjournal requires Mac OS X 10.4 or higher and Quicktime 7 or higher. A single license will cost you $34.95US.

It would be interesting to see a comparison between products like this, MarsEdit, Journler, etc...maybe even list the common popular blogging services they work with, and the unique services for each app. That'd be helpful :)

Rich text editing, lots of metadata, HTML copy/export, and .Mac syncing FTW!

I'm always amazed at how people find enough time and effort to complain. Typos happen. I find just the announcement of a new utility a little bit helpful, too. I can make the comparison myself. Or you can post one, Simpleton.

What's the deal? Is it just me or does this post smack of a commercial advertisement? No real opinion from Dave here...just the facts about the release of an update. If that's all I wanted, I'd be looking at VersionTracker!

Dave, do you use this software? How is it compared with Yojimbo or Journler? How much money do you or TUAW make from linking to the Mariner Software site per click? Or are there other incentives involved? I'm interested in full disclosure about how you deal with who you link to.

Sorry for the rant but I read blogs like TUAW because I'm looking for more than just a commercial.
