Macworld is reporting that Aspyr is planning to hold Guitar Hero III tournaments at various Apple retail stores around the country. It looks like they'll be awarding iTunes gift cards to the winners, but surely that pales in comparison to the chance to become not just a Guitar Hero, but a Mac Guitar Hero in front of throngs of cheering Apple Store patrons! Some of the stores participating "include locations in Bloomington, Minn., San Francisco, Stockton, Pasadena and Santa Monica, Calif., Tampa, Fla., Albany, NY, Peabody, Mass., Houston, Texas, Chicago, Ill., and New York, NY." If you want to know if your local store is on the list you should check its specific website at Apple Retail. Perhaps if Mike S. ever gets over his feud with Aspyr, you can challenge our resident Mac game master at the Chicago store.

From another article I read, the events will be held throughout March. You can check the Apple Store calendars at www.apple.com/retail

NYC residents: it's at the 5th Avenue Store on Wednesday, March 12, 7-9 PM. There are no other details on either the Apple or Aspyr websites (or at least that I could find).

I don't know why but Guitar Hero runs terribly on OS X. On the same machines when you play the PC version through boot camp it runs much faster without as much lag. Although, I've heard of people with Mac Pros that still have lag running this game. I guess they did a poor job of porting it over...

Its a misprint. I saw the same thing! I am from Stockton, But i live in San Francisco now. The Apple store here in SF is on Stockton St. So clearly it was a mistake.
With all of the new development in Stockton (mainly on Pacific where the old K-mart was) I wouldn't be surprised if there was an apple store soon. I hate going home and not being able to get something for one of my Macs.
