BusySync 2.0 Public Beta

The BusySync 2.0 public beta is now open. We've blogged about BusySync 2.0 before (and we even managed to snag an interview with the developer during Macworld this year), so no doubt you are aware of the big ticket item: bidirectional syncing between iCal and Google Calendar.
When BusySync 2.0 leaves beta it will cost $24.95, which is a $5 increase to the price, however, if you buy it now you get the old $19.95 price (and users of BusySync 1.5 get the upgrade for free).
Thanks, Benni.

Does anyone know of a program which will sync my Address Book with Google?
March 06 2008 at 9:43 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyhas Plaxo not offered this for quite some time now?
March 06 2008 at 2:03 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWould be interested to see what BusySync has over gSync. I have used gSync for about a year on both Tiger and now Leopard. Couple of hiccups on the transition to Leopard but all great now. Works really well. Could do with a better support mechanic on their website. The blog gets hacked then users get spammed. Other than that all good.
March 05 2008 at 6:05 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThe biggest difference I found (and I haven't used gSync in a while, to be fair) is the speed. BusySync is instananeous -- gSync could take a while.
March 05 2008 at 10:36 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI purchased and currently use BusySync 2. It does what its suppose to do and works fine.
An issue that I submitted was that if you do a complete Time Machine resotore when Leopard gets to your desktop there are conflicts between iCal and BusySync.
The developers were not able to pin down why this conflict was occuring and where only able to suggest some reasons as to why.
I ended up selecting the BusySync entry to resolve any conflicts and havent had any issues since.
So not a showstopper by any means and was pretty amazed on how quickly they responded to my ticket (they work weekend!)
So I like the product and cant wait for it to be out of beta, but just to let you know that if you do a Time Machine restore you may have issues between iCal and BusySync.
I use Plaxo and it sync's Outlook with Google, Yahoo, and Hotmail. Then I use the iCal's web calendar feature to read my Google calendar address. Whenever I sync my iPhone with Outlook, they all eventually sync.
March 05 2008 at 2:29 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhat's wrong with the free syncing of http://www.plaxo.com/?
I use it to sync my work Outlook Calendar, Google Calendar, and my iCal. Works perfectly and is free.
I was looking at SpanningSync earlier today, but now that this beta is out, I'll save my money. This provides me with an instantaneous way to OTA sync my BlackBerry and iCal (using BlackBerry's Google Sync solution). Granted, it isn't as simple as OTA via my computer to BB (if only), but it's still pretty awesome.
March 05 2008 at 12:30 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI bought Spanning Sync a while back - similarly priced. Which is better? If busy is better, i'll just go w/ that one.
March 05 2008 at 12:09 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyQuick question I installed spanning sync then uninstalled because it did not work for me, but I still have the spanning sync icon on the top. How do I remove that? thannk in advance.
March 05 2008 at 11:45 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyReinstall it, grab an application like AppDelete or AppZapper and uninstall Spanning Sync that way. Does a great job of smoking any remains of a program. I had a similar issue last year and this combination worked for me.
March 05 2008 at 12:01 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI blogged about my great experience with BusySync 2.0beta about a week ago. My review is pretty biased since I haven't used any of the other offerings. I was in the same position as a lot of you, was trying to stick it out and wait until there was a really good comparison post comparing gSync, Spanning Sync and BusySync. But basically what I experienced was a great set-and-forget-it solution that "just works."
