Here's a handy tip for MacBook Pro users* who listen to music with iTunes. While it's fun to listen to music while you work, the iTunes window takes up a lot of screen real estate. The quick answer is to minimize the window. Here's the tip. With the cursor over the window, you can perform a two-finger scroll to adjust iTunes' volume. Scrolling to the right increases the volume; scrolling left turns it down.
Thanks, Anthony!
*We haven't tested this on a MacBook Air. If you try it out, let us know what happens.

In iMac Alu, Leopard 10.5.2 works with up/down of the mouse wheel over al minimized area of itunes with or without focus on itunes. with iTunes in normal windows only works over the slider of volume with or without focus.
BTW... Ctrl+Cmd+Z Zoom the iTunes window. I would like that all the applications had this shorcut.

Definitely works on the macbook air. Its pretty sweet but you can just use the volume buttons on the keyboard which are even more handy.

yep, seems more tedious to switch applications and mouse over the volume slider, when the keyboard buttons are right there.

Colonel Sanders,
read the title; this is Mac 101. Self-proclaimed veterans need not apply.

This appears to work in iTunes on any Mac. I have my browser window in focus now and the bottom of my collapsed iTunes window just visible under the browser window. If I move my cursor to the volume slider and use the scroll wheel on my trackball it moves the volume up and down.

It also works when your itunes is in full screen. When your cursor is on either one of the 2 speakers icon between the volume slider, you can use double finger scroll to adjust the volume.

John

Even though it might be obvious, I just figured it out on accident last night - the scroll wheel on your mouse has the same effect.

I forgot to mention it, but now all we need is the virtual scroll wheel and an emulation of the iPod software.

Works on the touch-strips on a Wacom tablet too when set to "Scroll"... so, pretty much with any scrolling action, I guess.
