i'd be happy if they finally figured on how to simply make airdisk reliable.

I downloaded it and connected to my Airport Extreme. There is now an option for "Disks"
I don't have a hard drive here to plug in, but that option definitely wasn't there before.

Disks were there before but they were titled AirDisk and it was an orange icon before.

No. It did NOT enable time machine to work with airport extreme airdisks. But, I'll settle for it remembering networks from sleep and making them "fast" again.

Definitely not more reliable. Since installing this update, Airport Utility can no longer find either of my Airport Extreme base stations. This is on Leopard 10.5.2.
Of course, I'd have to say that Airport Utility has always been the most unreliable piece of software Apple has made. Base station detection has always been flaky; this update has just made it completely broken.

This only updates the Mac side of things, not the Airport Extreme firmware.

Apples quality control is disgusting, you would think keeping everything in house would eliminate such stupid bugs.
Wireless keyboard/mouse disconnects
Airport problems (I personally fixed my wireless problems buying a £30 Linksys router)
iPods not showing universal docks as recognized devices
On 2nd Macbook (machine) and on 3rd Macbook Pro battery.
Apart from my last 2 iPods I cant think of an Apple product I have bought in the last 3 years that I have had no issue with. To see that Airport issues are still causing such trouble does not surprise me one bit

hmmm, "everything" is not in-house. Believe it or not, you have tons of outside-of-house stuff on your machine. Do you live near an airport or under high tension wires? It sounds like you have alot of interference.

I actually meant in house at Apple, but in answer to your questions no to both and at any rate surely only the mouse and keyboard faults from what I have mentioned could be caused by interference.
Perhaps your happy being an Apple beta tester, myself I would like for the financial outlay to have finished products.

Just read on another Apple rumor site that the update has been pulled for unknown reasons, although I haven't yet confirmed it myself.

It's still available via software update. I've learned my lesson about rushing out and updating my OS. Apple update has messed up my system more than enough.
I'll just wait it out to see what actually happens when ppl update and if I feel the need to I'll update.

I usually wait a day or two after the update is released. I've been doing this for years. Knock on wood, I haven't had any problems yet. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I usually repair permissions and restart before downloading and installing any software (Apple and non-Apple). I usually restart after the install is complete, too. I'm probably a little too cautious, but I think I'll stick with my routine. :)

I was so disappointed with the airport exterme and yeah the 30 $ linksys that it replaced was better, but after installing then uninstalling then reinstalling the last update the thing has run pretty well. I am afraid to run this new update.
