I just want my new Airport Extreme to not drop my connection 2-3 times per day. Right now, it's sitting collecting dust while my old Extreme runs my wireless network.

Does anyone know how to remove an update? i do own TC so could i revert my computer back to a certain date?

I was having this problem forever and I just unhid the SSID and no it finds the base station immediately after waking.
There's no point in hiding the SSID because anyone with a wi-fi sniffer can easily see it, and if you're using WPA then it doesn't matter who sees your network name.
Thats right.
Its Airport Utility software version 5.3.1, NOT any kind of firmware. (Not that its available right now)
It must be to facilitate USB disks on the network, which sort of work, but not really....I was hoping to run a small USB disk as a backup off the Base Station, but no luck yet - 'connection failed'.....
Peopleâthis update won't make any difference to connection stability, AirDisk, AirTunes, or anything like that. It's an update for the Airport software which lives on your Mac and manages the base stations. It's *not* a firmware update.
March 12 2008 at 4:46 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhat does firmware have to do with it? My PC's connection to the airdisk is rock-solid (considering how much my Vista PC goes up and down as a developer machine, that's saying a lot). My Mac's connection to the airdisk drops every time it goes to sleep.
Sounds like it's an update required on the Mac side more than on the router side to me.
Firmware version 7.2.1.
Airport Base Station Extreme.
Airport Utility said Update available, but when it went to software update, no such update exists.
This at 1.40 am Pacific Time Zone.
Cant find any updates on the Apple site.
I have never had any serious problems with Apple equipment - I did have an issue with an airport express recently, however and have just replaced it with the Extreme Base Station, which is working well and very fast with one Macbook Pro, two iBooks, and one Clamshell iBook.
I've fired up software update, says everything is A-OK and no updates available. Opening Airport Utility informs me that there's an update, and I should hit 'OK' to be taken to Software Update to download the new software. Of course, Software Update then says everything is peachy-keen. Sounds to me like there were issues, and the update got pulled. Something server-side that the individual apps talk to (not Software Update, obviously) just hasn't been updated to not trigger the update warning.
March 12 2008 at 1:47 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThat's odd, I just fired up Software Update and it says that all my software is up to date. So then I opened up Airport Utility, which informed me that a new version of Airport Utility is available. I hit update, which quits out of the utility, fires up Software Update, which of course tells me that all my software is up to date.
Anyone else experiencing this or have I lost my mind?
I'm seeing exactly that... maybe they pulled it?
