This was going to happen eventually. Altec Lansing has produced the first fully iPhone-compatible speaker docking system. The descriptively named t612 features 60 Watts of power RMS (120 Watts Peak), and connects to your iPhone's dock port. There are four speakers, enhanced bass, a wireless remote and, best of all, it's immune to that annoying GSM interference noise while the iPhone is docked and not in Airplane Mode.
All this convenience comes at a price -- $199.95US, to be exact. At the time of this posting, no shipping information was available.

This is available at my local Apple Retail Store. It was the only music center in the store that had an iPhone docked as a demo unit.

Yeah, this has been out and available for weeks. Maybe it was an exclusive Apple Store thing until now?

Hmm, I wish they made a low end shielded speaker set for iPhones.

Who's really going to use one of these? I just can't imagine a situation.
The thing is not portable or battery powered; and don't most people have to either wear headphones or have a nice soundsystem? Hmm, wait...
Maybe it's useful for people who have their own office, but can't be too loud. ?

I am. It's sitting in my office. And it can get pretty loud, with very good bass for its size. (God, I sound like one of those Bose commercials). I work with another person in the same space, and we each have an iPod, plus my iPhone. A central, small speaker system with the 30-pin connector that's also shielded and works entirely with the iPhone is a boon.

I have the Harmon Kardon Go + Play

I'm willing to bet that the Go + Play has a lot more output power then the measley t612, it's really giving a punch when kicking out bass, and it's also completely immune to GSM interference noise, i even use it as handsfree speakerphone when i receive a call

I've been waiting impatiently now for the JBL On Stage IIIp which was supposed to ship in February. Still not on any retail site, but mysteriously in stock in the Apple Store UK! I like the styling better than this AL (which started shipping two weeks ago) and it can also be battery powered. If someone does find a place selling it please let me know.

You're right... those JBLs look much nicer than the other GSM shielded speakers.
The DLO is an interesting set.. but they use the headphone jack instead of the line-in from the dock connector... and thats a deal breaker for me.

This is a useful thread, given the surprising dearth of iphone-compatible speaker systems on the market even now.
For a non-portable solution that won't break the bank, I can definitely recommend the Logitech X-240 speaker system. (MSRP is ~ $50; I got them for $20AR at Circuit City a few months back)

While these speakers are not explicitly iphone-compatible, their design allows you to place the iphone far enough from the speakers that you don't have to worry about the GSM buzz.
Volume is not a problem for me (this is a 25W RMS sattelite setup, with a subwoofer...) BUT I should point out that these speakers also use the headphone jack vs. the line out.

This is actually just an M602 in black and with an iPhone compatible sticker on the box. I picked up the M602 on sale @ RadioShack for $70 over Christmas, and it works perfectly fine with the iPhone. You just have to ignore the compatibility message that pops up, but there's no GSM-buzz to speak of. These speakers do sound fantastic for the size, perfect for my home office.

Looks like you can't get cover flow or watch a video (reasonably) on this. Or is there a separate docking connector to hold the iPhone landscape?

I have been using the Belkin Tunebase (I had to modify it a bit, and use another iPod to program in the station I was going to use) for my iPhone in my vehciel. I get MAJOR GSM noise when the phone rings, so I leave the iPhone in Airplane mode and forward my calls to a second phone. Does anyone know of a solution for vehicles that is immune to the GSM Buzz??

Not Quite what I'm waiting for... I want the remote to have an "Answer" and the speaker system to have a mic. Phone Rings, music shuts off, and I'm on a speakerphone. I want the same thing for my car.
