TUAW go bragh

A big green Happy Saint Patrick's Day from TUAW. What says "American Irish experience" more than iPods in resplendent verdant hues? Or classic green gumdrop iMacs? Or colorwared MacBook Airs? We can't think of anything!

Just remember to keep your electronics away from the jello shots and green beer. Alcohol immersions are not covered under AppleCare. And remember why TUAW celebrates in March: because God didn't make little green apples in the summertime.

If you've got a favorite green Mac, iPod or peripheral, shout it out below.

Update; Green beer, being secular, doesn't conform to liturgical necessities.

My favorite green product is my iBook G4. It really is green! Well, sort of. Pictures here:

For the record, it used to have it in blue, but I like green better.

Linking the Green Gumdrop iMac in the post kinda backfired... the Google search you list has this very post as result #2!

Totally unfair holiday. It has basically turned into "Irish Day" in America. Where's "Welsh Day" or "Scots Day" or even "Italian Day", huh? Where's the day when we all wear something plaid/tartan and eat haggis? Why only the Irish?

Seriously-- Name another holiday that is totally wrapped up in emulating the culture of a particular group of people. Even if you border the politically-incorrect and cite the "African American" holiday of Martin Luther King Jr. Day (which, by the way, I see as a day for ALL people who value freedom and equality, not just African Americans) then where's the emulation we see on St. Patrick's Day? You know; The wearing of the colors, drinking, and ridiculous retail sales events that reference the holiday nonstop? Where's the whole "If you don't wear _____ on MLK Jr. Day, you'll get pinched!" routine?

And don't say it's not respectful, or I'll have to remind you that this is SAINT Patrick's Day. If we can't treat a day dedicated to a remarkable man as an occasion to celebrate and act stupid, then why is it OK on a day dedicated to a supposed SAINT?!?!

All cultures need a holiday dedicated to them! I'd love a day dedicated to the French, or Italians, or even the British. I'd love to see a day dedicated to Australian culture, various African cultures, and Asian backgrounds of all kinds.

The Irish have been riding this celebration of their culture for a long time now-- It's time to share!

I'd agree that there should be more days celebrating other cultures but we Irish enjoy ourselves and don't take life too seriously.
So maybe that's why the day became popular. Most people outside Ireland don't have the first clue about why it's celebrated. But that never stopped you celebrating another of our original festivals (Halloween), so you're just encouraging us to give you more. ;)

Isn't there a Tartan Day in the US for celebrating all things Scots? In fact, I'm sure I've heard of Tartan Week in New York.

Correct link:

Yes, I know. I don't know why they maintain the PC part, other than colorware.com is taken :-P
