'Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.0' Is Out
If you happen to be a photographer who likes to take digital photos using the RAW format, then Apple has just released an update you might want to take a look at and, perhaps, even apply. Appearing today in Software Update is what Apple calls the "Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.0."According to the notes in Software Update, this new update "extends RAW file compatibility for Aperture 2 and iPhoto '08 for the following cameras:
Hasselblad CFV-16
Hasselblad H3D-31
Hasselblad H3D-31II
Leaf Aptus 54S
Leaf Aptus 65S
Nikon D60
Olympus E-3
Pentax *ist DL2
Pentax *ist DS2
Pentax K100D Super
Sony DSLR-A200
Sony DSLR-A350
If you're curious, you can also find more info on this update, which according to this page seems to be a bit of a security update as well, by going to the Apple support site. Of course, as always, if you decide to apply this update and your Mac explodes or something, be sure to let us know.

I'm using iPhoto '08 on my iMac running Leopard. It refuses to download RAW files from my Nikon D70 and I can't find anything on the iPhoto web site that shows whether this camera is supported. Does anyone know?

You're funny!
I tried sending you that quarter, but I spent it on postage.
: )
Both myself and my partner work in RAW and both of us use iPhoto. Why? Because we don't have a lot of money lying around to shell out for aperture, Bridge doesn't easily allow you to preview photos without taking about half an hour to load up photoslop, and as yet there is no Pentax IST DL2 RAW compatibility with preview. If there was compatibility with preview we'd probably have stopped using iPhoto a long time ago.

I have requested that the Lumix DMC-FX18K be added but still no luck. Perhaps, if enough people requested that it be added, Apple will finally wake up and add the camera to iPhoto and Aperture.
no SIGMA again....
I need DP1 RAW support.
Jott = stupid.
In a word Aperture. Also Preview and the general OS uses this update for viewing the image on your Macintosh - quick view, media browser, etc. Last I checked, photography was visual in nature.
Don't you think if someone spent thousands of dollars on a camera they would like to use the image all around the computer? If you send your address, I'll send you a quarter so you can buy a clue.
Idiot.
Jott, next time you want to act like a smart-ass, I suggest you learn-up on the basics so you can better pretend to be someone with a functional brain.
whoa buddy
I am a photographer and I use a mac. RAW support is great for iPhoto, I hear complaints all the time from people shooting RAW using a prosumer DSLR and how their camera is not yet supported. Yes I think this is great for Aperture and Quickview but if you take tons of photos in RAW format with a 22 or 39 megapixel camera you are not going to put your photos in iphoto.
919 Go To Hell st.
You Bastard, OR
I'll wait for that quarter.
Still no support for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18K Camera. Pity!!!!
Come on Apple. The FZ18K is a very popular, low cost consumer camera with RAW support. Guess Adobe is the only option...
Hey I have a Leica D-Lux 3 and it's RAW format is still not supported. AAAARRRRGHHH!!!
