Beta Beat: Dejumble, task management simplified
If you're sick of hearing about GTD, relax, this isn't about that. This is about a program that's just a to-do list; no contexts, no realms of responsibility, no next actions to speak of. It's called Dejumble and it sits nicely in your menubar and allows for fast creation of new tasks with tagging and basic categorization. Tasks can have due dates and notes as well, without all of the extra goodies that a lot of people just don't need.
I was, however, frustrated by the keyboard/mouse switching necessary to add new tasks. I'd love for a hotkey to open the window, and to be able to just tab through the input. But it's still in beta (public), and development is under way. Integration with system apps like iCal and Mail is apparently on the way.
If you're sick of bloated task managers, this may be a good fit. Fair warning, though: every time you run it, it will add itself to your startup items without asking. And there's no easy way that I could find to quit beyond killall Dejumble. There, you've been warned.

We have just officially released Dejumble 1.0.2. It features a lots of fixes, iCal synchronization, tear-off view and more.
Hello,
For implementing GTD you might try out my application for time management and productivity,
http://www.gtdagenda.com
You can use it to manage your goals, projects and tasks, set next actions and contexts, use checklists, schedules and a calendar.
Hope you like it.
You've got lots of features which is awesome but I only need it for Tasks. It's too cluttered for what I want to do and I'd prefer it to be locally stored (i.e. no web interface). Good job anyways and good luck!
May 29 2008 at 3:50 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHi all, I have updated Dejumble to version 0.9.2 The new version fixes the problems Brett pointed out.
Whats new in 0.9.2
- Asks the user on first run if he/she would like dejumble to startup at login.
- Quit option
Click on the "dejumble" button on the bottom of the window then click on "Quit Dejumble".
We look forward to more of your suggestions and feedback.
Where can we download the new version from? When I try to download I still get 0.9.1.

Reason enough to not even check it out, for my download dollar. Thanks for the review.
Is this 10.5 only? I finally got it to download but it won't open...

Not because I have "terminal" issues but because I prefer having my Mac act like a Mac not a pseudo-M$ box... I would rather write stuff down on scrap paper... At least I know then that when I dump it - it is dumped.
Thanks for the heads up, Brett. This is actually what I like to see in software reviews. Not just glorified commercials.
I may have wanted to try this app but the auto-add-to-start-up-items feature would really bug me. So I'll maybe try it when they remove that one.
