Today Apple released an update for the Aluminum Keyboards that ship with most of their desktop systems. This update applies to both wired and wireless keyboards. Here's the information that Apple gives us: This firmware update addresses an issue with the aluminum Apple Keyboard and the aluminum Apple Wireless Keyboard where a key may repeat unexpectedly while typing. The update also addresses other issues. Mac OS X 10.5.2 is required before installing this update.
Please note that as a firmware update, you must download the installer (either by downloading from Apple's website or by opening Software Update). Once the download has succeeded, you will be able to open the installer in the Utilities folder (~/Applications/Utilities/ )

This finally fixes the bug under Windows where the keyboard itself would crash if you pressed Caps Lock. Yay for no more interrupted gaming sessions!

Does it change anything regarding the delay trigger of capslock? It is impossible to remap the key due to the delay. This is a feature that ought to be implemented at the OS level not in the keyboard hardware!

Does this fix the friggin' problem where the Mac Mini doesn't recognize the Aluminum keyboard at boot, rendering all startup keys useless!?!?!? (cmd-d, apple-option-pr etc...)

I own a Mini and an extended wired keyboard. It's extremely annoying not having access to the keys. If I really need to use the key combos I plug in my old Kensington. I doubt Apple will listen to our concerns.

The fact that Apple hasn't addressed this is totally ridiculous. I have to hook up another keyboard to get into single-user mode? Considering that they tell you in some of their support docs to do this to run fsck, I'm just puzzled.

I Bootcamp with x64 Vista as the alternate OS and the Windows Apple boot selector software only works on 32-bit OSes. I've not checked for the others you listed but you can get the boot selection menu at startup with the IR Remote by holding the Menu button down on the remote during boot.
Other than that, yes this is such a boneheaded bug to leave. But then Apple generally shows little Mini love, so sad since it's generally a great solution for what I want to do and a hell of a lot cheaper than the few equivalent "PC" hardware products available.
