New "Get a Mac" ad: Office Stress

Use Spotlight as a reference tool. Type any word in the Spotlight box and one of the top entries will be a definition. Click on it, and it will bring up the dictionary application to check the word in either the dictionary, thesaurus, Apple database, or Wikipedia.

I'm glad they directly address the issue of Microsoft Office. That is one of the biggest things I hear from people who don't know about Macs. They think they wont be able to read their Microsoft Word documents anymore. Pages, etc. is great, but, the safety and security of full blow Microsoft Work, Excel, and Powerpoint eases the mind of potential switchers immensely.

Yeah, it's funny because PC Office & Mac Office aren't compatible anymore (Mac Office can't open VBA macros) and that Mac Office is absolutely abysmal. Office 2004 in Rosetta *and* Office 2007 in VMWare both launch faster than the "native" Office 2008.

Funny, I can't get Excel on this PC to stop crashing when I open 100 mb spreadsheets, but my Mac is just fine with them.

Well my father had this big Word document from work and he told me every time he opened it Word 2008 crashed.
I tried at home and it did, both on his MacBook Pro and my iMac.
I had to quickly open the document and save it as another file before Word crashed.
Office 2003 on Windows (and on Parallels) opened it just fine.
Also he had these Excel spreadsheets that showed errors when opened in Mac Excel, but not in Windows Excel.
Point is, Microsoft isn't even able to ensure compatibility between different Office versions, I think the only reason corporations are able to exchange documents using Office is because the all use the same old version of Microsoft Office under Windows.

I like the new ads - even though I do not use any Microsoft products on my Mac. Still like the ads.

I still think the ads are horrible. "Get a Mac" used to be funny, but I've been thinking that they're really too cruel about MS, rather than actually pointing out how Macs are better. Their ads make it seem that "we're not as bad as M$, we're just the 2nd worst".
If they'd make it more iPhone ad-like, that would be far better, and throwing cheap cliches of the past onto them.
I don't know if that day's coming anytime soon. I have a friend who won't buy a Mac just because of these ads that stereotype.

Believe me - you need the stress toy WHEN you use office for mac. It is one piece of unfinished software.
It can NOT do the same things as the Win Version.
It is NOT faster than the 2004 version, even though it is universal.
I am truely thinking of using office 2007 in my parallels window.

I think Mac would benefit from the stress toy more than PC does seeing what horrible piece of software Office 2008 is.

The stress ad appeared last week. I use both Vista and OSX regularly and I will say that I am not sure those ads are entirely true. But hopefully people have enough sense to realize this. Overall I think they are really funny. I agree with the poster who thinks they are getting more aggressive. They are. I was a little shocked at how "mean" they were towards Microsoft. Ha ha!
