Enhance Address Book with PostCheck

Here's a very handy plugin for Address Book. PostCheck does two things. First, it fills in missing Zip Codes for when you've only got a contact's city and state. It's super simple. Just right-click on the empty Zip Code field and select PostCheck from the contextual menu. In my testing, it accurately provided the accurate 9-digit code across several cities and states. It also works when you've got the Zip Code but need the city and state.

PostCheck's other trick is to format your addresses so that they meet the US Postal Service's exacting standards. As everyone knows, it's not a good idea to tick off the mail carriers. It's called "going postal" for a reason, folks.

PostCheck requires Mac OS 10.4 or higher, is universal and costs $10US. It's definitely a useful tool to have around.

This is idiotic. Why buy this when I can do the same thing in Google Maps for free?

PostCheck works well, and the functionality is useful for individual addresses. However, it also has batch functionality, which can reformat all or some of your addresses (you choose) look up zips, and even produce a report of problems. It's the batch processing that's worth the entrance fee.

How long would that take if you're trying to update 300+ addresses?

This is nice and quick. I usually do a ZIP+4 lookup for business addresses & etc., but this saves a few steps. Agreed, it should be built-in.

Can we add support for Canadian Postal Codes? The data is all online at http://www.canadapost.ca/

I think its useful, However.... I have about 300 dollars in $10 software. I dunno if I can add this to it since I don't use my address book for addresses much.

Considering that most cities have more than one zip code, I can't see this being too useful - especially for $10.

It says it will give you the zip code if you know the city and state. That's fine and dandy if you live in a one zip town. Even Cupertino has two.

Just to clear up any confusion: Given a proper street address, PostCheck will find the correct ZIP Code (or ZIP+4) for the address. The number of ZIP Codes your city has does not matter.

Ahh, you might want to clear up the language then. First thing being change "you're" to your and then add street before address.

Sorry but I wouldn't pay for an app like this.

This should be built into the app. Apple should buy this from this company.
