Found Footage: Thinkpad MacBook Air parody
There are two hot ultraportable computers on the scene now-a-days: the MacBook Air and the ThinkPad X300. Some clever Lenovo lover created this MacBook Air ad parody which points out the key differences between the Air and the X300: number of ports and an internal DVD drive (only available on some models).
Judging by pure aesthetics alone the Air wins, but ThinkPads are time tested workhorses so I wouldn't count out the X300. Either way, this parody is one of the better ones I've seen.

How is the ThinkPad even an ultraportable? It is only JUST thinner than most of Apple's standard laptops. So put it head to head with a MacBook or a MacBook pro, but as it is, the parody is comparing Apples and Oran, errr, Lenovas.

I am among one of those people who have no desire for the MBA. I do, however, understand that the reason for lack of connections is because Apple is always minimizing things. It's just like when they stopped using floppy drives. That was one of the best moves they ever made. Eventually, there will be no need for physical connections because everything will be wireless (as it almost already is or can be). Hence the name 'Air'!

A need for more USB ports kicks in when I need to work on external disks as storage is limited. Then again, if I needed something that permits me to simply surf + read mails and maybe do some word processing I'd make a total U turn and go for an EEE pc. Used it this weekend and I must say I'm totally impressed by it and it justifies every penny while MBA and X300 are too steep (for my needs).

I think not. Not very aesthetic when you look at Air + all the peripherals which I think was the point.
But I do understand that everyone might not have a need for an optical drive or more USB ports.
As a Macbook Pro owner, I still think that the X300 is kinda cool though considering how much they've been able to put in there, but because of those extras, the price isn't that cool :)
I am a MacBook Air user and yes there is one USB port big deal I only use the Add on Optical drive when I need it. And the Time Machine for Back up but turn it off when I need to install a Program. Printer I use the network Printer and I just use the display the come with the Air. The MBA is faster than the Lenovo. And to tell you the truth most of the time I do not even miss the optical drive I do not watch movies on the Air. I use it for what is meant to a light weight lap top and easy to carry with you.

Comparing the MBA with the X300 gives $2798 for the MBA versus $3330 for the X300 - you're paying the extra ~$500 for the built-in DVD burner and the extra connectivity. It's a steep premium, but it's not steeper than the premium you pay (~$1800) for an MBA over a MacBook or other regular notebook. You pay for what you want when you're going for something that's so niche. I admit that the X300 is running a 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo as opposed to the 1.6GHz Core 2 Duo in the MBA I'm suggesting, but if I was after an ultraportable I'd rather have a DVD burner than a fast processor any day.
Yes, it's running Windows, but Windows is a perfectly usable OS - it's not as good as OS 10.5, IMHO, but I'd be willing to make that sacrifice in exchange for the phenomenal piece of hardware it's running on. You can always install Ubuntu/other Linux if you're that bothered.
It's a great parody vid, though! :D
