Steve Ballmer uses a Mac for presentations
You may remember Steve Ballmer (CEO of some other company) criticizing the iPod and iPhone on several occasions. Something that he definitely cannot criticize is the Mac, mostly because he was seen I guess Microsoft is staring to "Think Different," eh?
Update: As noted by several Flickr commenters, Ballmer didn't actually use the Mac to present; all that was displayed was his title slide, most likely driven by backstage gear, and presumably the MacBook Pro was left at the podium by the conference organizers or a previous presenter. Still a pleasant thought to imagine him slaving away over his PowerPoint (or Keynote!) presentation on the MBP, but it doesn't look like that's how it went.

TUAW, How come you are always 48h late...? Seriously, you are even slower than the printed magazines.

I've been to conferences where there are macs and windows machines side by side on the podium and many different people use them. Just because there's a mac on the podium does not mean that the presentation is being run from that machine. Bad assumption on this one.

I was on a plane to Asia with a Microsoft Exec, who taught me a few boot camp tricks when he saw my MacBook. He had a Pro as well, when I asked about this, he said they were now quite common as laptops at Microsoft, because they are simply better hardware.

If you check the flickr comments, the laptop was left over from the previous 2 presentations, and Ballmer was using an automated slide system NOT off the MacBook Pro. Confirmed by at least 2 people from the conference.

On an unrelated note: Who cares if he did his presentation on a Mac?

Ballmer didn't use the Macs - in fact he didn't use any computer for his presentation. The MBPs were already on stage.
Amusing pics though.

By stating "...proving once again that the best Windows machine money can buy is a Mac" you implicitly are saying that what Steve Ballmer says or does is proof that it is the best thing out there...
Does that mean that because he runs Windows, it is the best OS that money can buy? ;)

AARrgh - a typo in the opening slide of his grand presentation: "Future Graduated"? Or should it be "Future Graduates"?
Ouch!

You can see why some people think apple users are smug jerks based on articles like this.

Wow - who would think there would be Apple fanboys on, uh, THE UNOFFICIAL APPLE WEBLOG. Go figure.

It's not the like the Mac is even his. Do you think for a second he got the powerpoint presentation up and running? They have people to do that. His job is to just walk up on stage and make a fool of himself. I doubt he even knows how to turn on a computer.

I think we have all established the MBP is not his, so can we please take this post down, or at least alter the misleading and fallacious title?
