Howdy, TUAW-ites. My name is Steve Sande and I'm the new kid on the block here at TUAW. Saying that I'm the new kid is a bit misleading, since I'm over the half-century mark in the age column. I've been writing online since 1986, when I started up a Mac/Apple IIGS Bulletin Board System called MAGIC. That BBS continued for 8 years until 1994, when I began publishing a blog-like website called PDAntic.com on the web, writing about the Apple Newton MessagePad. That site went through various incarnations, ending with the latest - MovableBeast.com. I also blog and podcast occasionally on TalkingWordpress.com, and I can be heard on the MacJury podcasts as a regular jury member.
My first Mac purchase was in December of 1984; a Mac 512K with an ImageWriter II printer. My latest? A MacBook Air! My next dream machine is going to be a 3.06 GHz 24" iMac with 4GB of RAM and a 1 TB HD. I'm not sure how many Macs I've owned since 1984...
So, what do I do when I'm not blogging? I'm currently an ACN (Apple Consultant Network) member, which means I'm a certified Apple consultant. I write documentation for several commercial Mac applications, I've written a couple of ebooks for Take Control Books, and I teach Business Analysis classes all over the country.
I'm thrilled to be part of the TUAW team, and I look forward to your comments and story tips.

Welcome to TUAW! Just to be sure...you're not the guy who writes the (lack of) documentation for the Software updates right??? Good. We'll get along just fine then.

Mike, if you're going to link to yourself in every post (I wish you wouldn't), at least make the link work. I actually decided to check out your stupid blog but I don't care enough to fix the typo.

Yes, we like experience when it comes to talking Macs. Welcome! I beat you on the Mac purchase: got the very first Mac when it came out in 1984. 125K of RAM. Sigh. Those were the days.

Welcome! Don't know where else to ask this, but I suppose the comments in one of the flurry of introduction posts is as good as anywhere. (Two in one day!)
Is there any way to add a blogger who focuses on mac applications and uses in a research/engineering/science setting? I know there's lots of folks who are starting to use it beyond just the design and web content fields. Would definitely be nice to have that perspective as well. Thanks, TUAW!

What gives with the "I've been using Mac since the dawn of time blah blah blah." It doesn't add street cred, looks suspiciously elitist, and smacks of the "Deader than thou" and "I'm more punk than you" nonsense. Enuf.

Ah, don't be so cynical...maybe it's just a way of saying "this has been a lifelong passion of mine" and "I'm not just here because I want to get a few bucks for blogging, I actually like the products"...?

My guess it was a suggestion from TUAW as to what to write in the intro post. Both new bloggers used the same format for their intro post, including their "First Mac", "Current Mac" etc.
In any case, hi Steve, looking forward to your posts!

Yah... probably too cynical... or sensitive about being a late adopter on the Mac.

Understandable, pop...but just so you know, the really early adopters of Macs are generally the opposite of elitist and are really welcoming to people who are more recent to the game.
Not me, though. I've been using Macs since 1991, and I want you to get the hell out of my face, newbie.
Kidding, kidding!

You teach classes all over -which- country? Spain? Georgia? Malaysia?
It may come as a shock, but people from Not-America-Land read this site.

But if it's an American-based site, I think it would be safe to assume he means the USoA.

Good. These functional illiterate kids who have been writing articles make me sick. It's about time they brought someone in who can maybe set a decent literary example. You do know the difference between "loose" and "lose", I hope?
