Found Footage: Mac for Attorney General
Greg Macpherson is running for Attorney General in Oregon. Normally this isn't the stuff of TUAW posts, but normally political campaigns don't run an ad that is very reminiscent of a certain computer company's advertising.
It would seem that Mr. Macpherson's nickname is 'Mac,' and I think you can see where I'm going with this. Check out the ad here. Sure, it isn't a laugh a minute, but it is fairly clever.
Oh, and this post should in no way be considered an endorsement for any political candidate of any sort.
Thanks, Brant.

How long until someone at Apple tries to figure out a way to sue this guy for this ad? After all, Apple goes after anyone that tries to use anything that looks anything like their advertisements, even some that don't.

Too bad Oregon will be a red state in 08. The hippies are only in the cities.

I disagree. This blog's gotten a lot more interesting with the addition of Mr. Palmer and the other non-famously-named guy. :)
Honestly, Apple really needs to leak juicy tidbits on a regular basis for this to be a truly exciting blog. Like i'd like to know what their plan for the Mac Mini is. They're working on a lot of stuff for the WWDC, I know, but we only hear about the iphone stuff.

Yeah, we've been seeing these here in Eugene, OR starting last week. Ridiculous, as if the Mac ads weren't already completely pretentious, this doesn't make me want to vote for the jackass. Regardless of how liberal he is. Also the way he emphasizes the "Mac" in his name, as if to say "get it? *wink wink*". What a jackass.

Nice Jay. Greg is a much better candidate than Kroger. Kroger just passed the bar exam in Oregon in 2007 and now he wants to be AG? What a buffoon. Kroger has been trying to portray the AG as "the top cop" for Oregon which is as far from the truth that you can get. - like the AG arguing a case in court. Yeah right. The AG is a political position where ties with the legislature are critical. Ability to argue a case counts for nothing.
Greg, as a representative, has provided updates on legislation via an electronic bulletin he nicknamed the "Mac Report"- which is much more than what any other legislator has done. He's quite responsive (I've e-mailed him a couple times) and knows his way around Salem.
I know DOJ folks who have met with Kroger and say he probably wouldn't be the best AG- attitude issues. Quite the opposite of Hardy Meyers.

Uh, I saw the ad and the ad of his opponent and apparently they have a real bad Meth problem in Oregon. Both ads mention it rather than "drugs". I guess they needed something to keep up with the all the folks from Seattle that are hopped up on Starbucks?!
