New Get a Mac ads: Pep Rally / Group

Apple just released two new "Get a Mac" ads -- Pep Rally and Group. In Pep Rally, PC tries to pep himself up despite the fact that the Mac is the "number one notebook on college campuses." Just when PC finishes his rant, the cheerleader squad starts cheering for Mac.
In Group, PC is in a support group with fellow PCs. "You've just taken the biggest step, and that's accepting that our operating system just isn't working like it should," are some words uttered by the PCs. The comedy comes at the end of this one as a PC stands up and says "I am pleased to say that I've been error free for over a week" in a constant loop.
You can view these new ads on Apple's
Get a Mac website. Apple has also redesigned their Get a Mac site for viewing these Mac commercials, you can now view them by year going all the way back to 2006.

These are good additions, but I think the fact that Apple has started cataloguing them by year is an indication that a new marketing strategy is needed.

Granted, I love Macs, and pretty much all of Apple's product lines, as much as anyone, and I have really enjoyed these ads, but I wish they would get back to celebrating the benefits of Macs, rather than simply highlighting the flaws of Vista.
Vista has problems; we get it. Why not focus more on the ways that Mac is superior, rather than simply reporting great Mac sales and Vista problems, which tell you nothing about Mac as an OS?

Did you actually watch the pep rally one? It didn't put down the PC/Vista except the humorous "PC's #2" chant at the end.
This ad specifically had PC pointing out that Mac had that super stable operating system and built in iSight camera, etc, etc. Seems to be just what you're asking for.
That said, I also think the ads are getting long in the tooth, but nearly as stale as the iPod dancing silhouette ad campaign are.

as long as these ads work, they should keep using them. They are great.
Visa, MasterCard ads (priceless) hasnt changed in 10 years.
Geico's gekko and Caveman ads are long time running as well.

you know, i love these types of ads, as they're good for a laugh or two... but could someone please tell me why, after they spend the entire pep rally one talking about laptops on college campuses, they show an iMac at the end? why not, oh i dunno... a collection of macbooks/mbp's?

Who cares about Vista? I just wish Apple would focus on bringing more headless Macs to market. The current systems are losers for those of us that hate glossy displays. :-(

The ads have become funnier and funnier over the apparently 3 years now. (Wow) Its been three years but the ads don't seem to be getting old. I hope they keep up this strategy, however, as somebody else mentioned, they need to go back to focusing on macs pluses like the earlier ads did.

Also, a "Mobile" version of that ad would be nice. Like both Mac and PC in a golf cart representing the iPhone and a Windows Mobile device. That would be a nice tie in for the iPhone in relation to the Mac. The iPhone is in essence a ultra portable Mac.

I love the passive aggression in this ad! They're right, PCs are #2, aka shite.

These ads aren't "get a mac", they are "don't get a pc"... What if MS came up with an ok OS (stretching imagination to its limits, I know), what would Apple show? How about all those hacking OSX so they can run it on generic PC boxes, what if all component manufacturers supplied OSX drivers and ppl could grab a hacked OSX torrent from the net and installed it in their winbox almost as well as on Apple hardware. Those ads seem too lame and noncreative. As if they came from that same PC guy they mock. Slowly getting one or two percentage points in total platform sales is no indication that they "work". Move on Apple.

All of the posts prior to this one proves that the Ads work, ie. people are talking/posting about them.
When Apple releases a new ad and there's NO buzz, that's when it's time to change the campaign.

Really? maybe they should have ads where they burn people alive. That would get a buzz for sure.

You are, of course, ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! :) As long as the ad makes you remember the product, it's a good ad. I've seen some very elaborate ads where I remember the activity in the ad, but NOT the product. THOSE are bad ads.

Also getting sick of these ads. Their way to cocky and a bit like laughing at a crippled and then shouting in his ear "I'm fit, *****!"
Why not instead make short version of these pro storys: http://www.apple.com/pro/
Much beter and mac focused.

I haven't looked at these two yet. My favorite one is "Choose a Vista". I laugh out loud every time I replay that one.
