ZDNet: Benchmarking the Psystar Open Computer
It's a big day for the Psystar Open Computer -- the quasi-Mac clone based on PC hardware and a cracked version of Mac OS X. ZDNet today published their comparison of the Open Computer with a Mac mini, and all three flavors of MacBook. The results? The Open Computer fares pretty well against all of its Mac cousins. It scored nearly 147 with Xbench 1.3.
It beats the Mac mini, its closest price competitor, by nearly 50 percent. The Open Computer outperforms even a MacBook Pro (with a 2.4GHz Penryn processor) by 10 points. Not too shabby at all, if you can stand the sound of a jet airplane on your desk (Just kidding. Apparently the noise isn't too bad).
ZDNet promises results using GeekBench soon. UPDATE: the GeekBench results are here, and the Open Computer still leads most of the Macs, but by a narrower margin. The MacBook Pro, though, edged out the Psystar 3327 to 3244.

assuming apple doesnt shut them down before this, the next update will shut them down cuz the hackintosh (free) community wont let them hijack their work again. i hope this happens tomorrow and these guys go to some panama jail.

Kill it! Kill it now! Seriously, it must be destroyed to maintain the integrity of the Apple product line. The last thing the world needs is a Mac without the quality or design. Look at the hodge podge of crappy frankenPCs out there for proof.

I wasn't employed here yet.

MeatyPi, You've been ROB'D! Or would it be PALMER'D?
:-P I read this on ZDNet today and thought it was pretty cool. My FrankenMac does pretty darn good. It spanks my work iMac (it does have thrice the ram, but only a Pentium D 2.8GHz).

"I wasn't employed here yet" is a valid excuse? What if I got hired at Apple, then proposed the iPhone, because I didn't work there when it first came out. Come on own up to something instead giving some bullshit excuse.

Since you're so full of good iPhone-like ideas, MeatyPi, tell me what precisely I should have done two weeks ago. Sound good?

wow, your clever comeback has left me speechless.
not.
I didn't tell you what to do 2 weeks ago, I merely stated this article was published 2 weeks ago, but you being so defensive decided to give a cheap excuse, and then a smartass remark, that I'm sure you though was shrewd, but it was just lame.

How about we all give him a FacePALMER? :D

What I can't stand on my desk is something that it is uglier than a shed. It is also at least twenty times as big as a Mac Mini!

Wow, yeah, they really switched to a butt-ugly case, didn't they? Maybe it reduces the tarmac experience.
