Wowhead Warcraft database releases OS X client
Our friends at WoW Insider (disclaimer: I'm a lead blogger over there) have good news for Mac World of Warcraft players who want to support one of their favorite sites. Wowhead, which is one of the premium online databases of all the items, quests, and NPCs there are to find in the game, has released a Mac client for their info-gathering spiders. Basically, you start up their app while you play the game, and it automatically pulls info to populate the database. To answer your question, no, you don't get anything from gathering information for them, save for the pleasure of knowing that you're helping to support and fill a popular database (that most WoW players have probably used for free before).
But if you're a Mac player who's used Wowhead in the past and wouldn't mind helping them out, here's your chance. The client is a quick free download from their site.

Did you mean premier (i.e., leading) when you said premium (i.e., costs extra) ?

Woot! So far, no major problems except when I open a crafting window for the first time. Total freeze for many seconds on my 8-core. I thought I had crashed out the first time. It's still better than the constant herky jerky Rupture addon used to be. And I have it set to upload when I quit WoW, but I don't see it happening. That doesn't mean it's not happening, of course.

Have any rupture invites by chance? ;)

You know what's funny? I haven't logged into Rupture for months, but I just did and I see they are pulling from The Armory now. Their addon isn't necessary except for "advanced" details, so my characters are completely up-to-date and it looks like I've been active on the site. I don't see any invites anywhere, though. The FAQ just says to send your friends to this URL if they want to join:
http://www.rupture.com/signup
You're not really missing much, but to each his/her own I guess.
