Get a $30 discount on MobileMe
If you have been waiting for the announcement of MobileMe (which, who hasn't), then you might like to know about two deals we discovered that allow you to get MobileMe on the cheap.Deal 1
Apple is running a promotion for new Mac purchasers. This deal allows you to get a $30 discount on a new Mac + MobileMe purchase. The discount is applied at checkout, so you won't have to worry about sending back a rebate form.
Deal 2
Amazon is still offering .Mac box purchases at a discount. If you don't want to buy a Mac to get the discount, Amazon is the place to buy .Mac/MobileMe. Since .Mac users will be switched over in "early July" this will save you some money.
Thanks, Nick!

Hell, that's like £35. We get shafted in the UK - amazon price is £69.50 which is about $139.

I know I can keep the .mac extension, but this is annoying if I change my email again. I forget what it was, but back before .mac there was another version of the apple mail for free and when it changed, I had to change all my email info on everything......

Just read that .MAC is dead with the Mobile option coming, so what if one is a .MAC member?. can we switch without having to bleed again??

The only thing I don't understand is why does .Mac (or Mobile Me) has to come in a box - I mean the service is supposed to be over-the-air, so why not let the purchase be the same way? They do it with all their software...

Is anyone else confused by the posted specs for Mobile Me? The individual package comes with 20 gigs email and file storage and 200 gigs of transfer for $99. The family pack comes with 5 gigs of storage and 50 gigs of transfer. Do the 4 additional email addresses account for the additional $50? What about less storage and less transfer, what's up with that?

Also, does anyone know if the new Mobile Me service will support shared calendars that are synced back to the cloud? Can both me and my assistant edit a calendar? Can my assistant add an appointment that gets pushed to my iPhone?

What you're missing is that a family pack is an individual account *PLUS* those extra things.

I'm reading it as this you get the individual account at 99 bucks and the storage, etc. Then if you get the family pack, each additional email gets 5GB and 50 GB transfer. So that would be add-ons to the individual account not a replacement of.

Too funny! For Canadians, Amazon.ca is actually more expensive than buying .Mac from Apple directly. Amazon is offering it for $109.49 and Apple is only charging $109. Only $10 more than the US... I can live with that.
(I haven't been paying attention - did this price drop only happen today?)

::cough:: What, TWO links in the article aren't enough?

Oops, my apologies. My status bar said nickstarr because it was loading in another tab, but the links don't actually go there.

@homagetogorto 2 links? Where are there 2 links to my original blog post about this $30 savings?

They say it's only for "new" macs, but I never did use my free 60-day trial account when I bought my MacBook Pro a year ago. You think I can still use the trial?

Thanks! I just saved $30 with your tip!
BTW, do you think I could save my .Mac box I just ordered, sign up for the 60-day trial, and then activate the .Mac key to get an extra couple of months?
Not trying to be greedy, but... =)

Does this mean I can do my .Mac "renewal" this way rather than through Apple? In other words this isn't just for "new" .Mac (Mobile Me) accounts?

What I'm wondering is this: What if I bought my .Mac today from Amazon, wait till my account expired at the end of July, then activate the account using the .Mac serial from Amazon?
