- a free Apprentice edition for learning that includes watermarks
- a non-watermarked Apprentice HD for $99
- Houdini Escape "with modeling, animation, characters, lighting, rendering and compositing" for $1995

funny:
I want those 7 years of my life back you bloated piece of shit. This took 10 minutes in Houdini and is impossible to do in Maya.

www.blender.org indeed. $8k for everything blender gives you for free. And guess what? Blender was used in the workflow for Spiderman2! With a nodes as well!
June 16 2008 at 7:04 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyblender is nice and all, but lets be honest. It eschews the standards of 3d UIs. Granted each app has its own system of working, but generally it's similiar enough to get up to speed quickly. Blender is bad at that.
Also, this is aimed at studios. That means they get support. They get higher scale solutions as well. Blender is nice and all, but houdini is better. Much better.
Feature parity doesn't equal product parity.
Blender was ONLY used for previz and animatics in Spiderman 2. Not a single frame from Blender appeared in the actual movie itself.
